We are seeking an experienced Senior LNG Originator to identify, develop, and execute LNG sale, purchase, and trading opportunities across our global portfolio. Based in either Singapore, London or Houston (with preference for Singapore), this role will lead complex commercial negotiations, build and manage senior-level relationships with suppliers, buyers, and portfolio players, and help shape the origination strategy for our LNG business. The successful candidate will work closely with trading, legal, shipping, risk, and regulatory teams to structure and close high-value, long-term and medium-term LNG transactions.

The LNG Originator I/II/Sr responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the identification, development, and execution of LNG sale, supply, and trading opportunities, including long-term and medium-term contracts and portfolio optimisation initiatives.
  • Shape origination strategy and market entry approaches, drawing on market insight and an established network of counterparties across Atlantic and Pacific LNG basins.
  • Provide commercial leadership on complex, high-value negotiations — setting strategy, leading counterparty engagement, and securing favourable terms on pricing, risk allocation, flexibility, and optionality.
  • Originate and manage a portfolio of counterparties, targeting both established and new markets to grow trading volumes and margin.
  • Oversee contract structuring and finalisation, partnering with Legal and Risk to ensure alignment with commercial objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key LNG suppliers, buyers, portfolio players, and strategic partners, acting as a primary commercial point of contact.
  • Work closely with the Trading, LNG & Origination desks to assess portfolio fit, short- and medium-term exposure, and value of prospective deals.
  • Prepare and present deal proposals, market analysis, and business cases to senior management and investment/commitment committees.
  • Monitor global LNG and gas market fundamentals, pricing dynamics, and regulatory developments, translating insight into actionable commercial recommendations.
  • Mentor junior origination and trading staff and contribute to the broader development of the origination function.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 5-10+ years of experience in LNG Origination, with a track record of leading and closing complex transactions.
  • Demonstrated network of counterparties across LNG buyers, sellers, portfolio players, and shipping/infrastructure stakeholders.
  • Experience negotiating SPAs, master trading agreements, and other long-form LNG/gas commercial contracts.
  • Prior exposure to deal structuring, pricing mechanisms, and risk allocation in LNG sale and purchase agreements.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Trading, Legal, Shipping, Risk, and Finance teams.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to originate, structure, and close deals independently.
  • Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with credibility at senior/executive level.
  • Sound quantitative and contractual skills; comfortable with financial modelling and deal economics.
  • Self-motivated, resilient, and able to operate with autonomy in a fast-moving, global market.
  • Cultural fluency and comfort working across time zones with teams in London, Singapore, Houston, and other regional offices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, energy economics, or a related field; MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is a plus.
  • Fluency in English required; additional languages relevant to target markets (e.g. Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish) are advantageous.
