Purpose and Scope:
The Training Design & Deployment Chapter in the Capabilities, Learning & Development Practice is part of the Customer Engagement Excellence (CEE) team within the broader Value Delivery organization. CEE is an integrated global group focused on supporting capabilities across VALUE Delivery, including Commercial (Sales/Marketing), Market Access and Medical Affairs, to enhance delivery and outcomes to the business, whilst prioritizing ethical decision making. During all such activities, there is a need to ensure that the integrity and independence of Medical Affairs capabilities is not compromised. The Chapter Member is expected to proactively communicate and consult with their Chapter and Value Team Leads as necessary to ensure that the integrity and independence of Medical Affairs is maintained at all times.
In the role of Chapter Member, the individual executes day-to-day activities within their assigned Value Team, with responsibilities that may vary according to the team’s mandate. Within the Value Team, the Chapter Member focuses on resolving specific business challenges for the organization. Value Teams are established and evolve in response to changing business objectives, and Chapter Members serve as key business partners, applying their expertise to drive organizational results.
As a Value Team member, the individual collaborates with cross-functional resources to achieve defined objectives and outcomes, working from a prioritized backlog of tasks. The Chapter Member works directly with the Value Team Lead to execute the team’s strategy and deliverables in alignment with its mission.
The Chapter Member receives capability and skillset development under the guidance of the Chapter Lead, who provides coaching and mentoring within the Agile model.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Value Team Delivery
o Deliver day-to-day tasks and responsibilities as defined by the Value Team’s mandate, Value Team Mandates are based on business objectives
o Support the Value Team Captain in executing the team’s strategy and objectives
o Apply expertise to address and resolve specific business challenges identified by the Value Team, with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes as defined by the objectives
o Work collaboratively with cross-functional team members and stakeholders to accomplish prioritized objectives and deliverables
- Area specific Responsibility & Accountability E.g., Content Development
o Primary global point of contact of Value Delivery stakeholders and external partners for content development and deployment via the Astellas LMS and other systems including acting as the Business Application Process Owner (BAPO) serving on all required committees and governance teams
o Partner with Value Delivery stakeholders and external partners to support the design and development of engaging content for use in the LMS and other platforms; where necessary, provide hand’s on support for content development in addition to supporting the deployment of content via Astellas systems
o Manage and prioritize the flow of work though content calendars and stakeholder coordination to support the LMS admin team, an external team, ensuring global Value Delivery needs are met across multiple regions and functions
o Support content review and feedback processes
o Act as the learning consultant for teams that provide content for the LMS; when necessary, overseeing complex, large-scale, multi-language LMS programs; design full learning paths in the system that work technically and within validated constraints of the Astellas system
o Translate business, regulatory, and operational requirements into clear LMS logic, sequencing, assessments, automations, learning pathways, and user experience to ensure content is developed as intended for stakeholders
- Continuous Improvement
o Identify opportunities for process enhancements and participate in initiatives to improve team effectiveness and efficiency when creating content for Value Delivery stakeholders
o Provide hands-on learning design expertise and technical consultancy to Value Delivery teams where needed, helping teams understand what is possible, compliant, and sustainable within the LMS
o SME for institutional knowledge that ensures continuity across teams, prevents rework, and reduces operational risk across the Value Delivery learning landscape
o Influence LMS functionality decisions internally by representing Value Delivery as the Business Application Process Owner (BAPO) (governance bodies, process decisions, DigitalX discussions) and externally (SAP Influence Requests and vendor input) to evolve system capabilities
- Skill Development and Learning:
o Engage in ongoing professional development and capability building, leveraging guidance from the Chapter Lead
- Compliance and Best Practices:
o Adhere to established standards, policies, and leading practices relevant to the Value Team and Chapter, ensuring compliance in GxP areas
o Support existing LMS standards, templates, guidance, governance documentation, and blueprinting that enable learning delivery at scale and remain audit ready.
o Apply deep technical knowledge of the LMS and learning ecosystem to identify risks, spot system constraints early, and ensure global consistency and compliance
- Agile:
o Utilize agile approaches, collaborate in agile ceremonies and Ways of Working to ensure effective delivery for the business
Foster a culture of collaboration, flexibility, and responsiveness to change, enabling the team to thrive in an agile environment
Preferred QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
- Degree in Learning & Development, Computer Science or other relevant field
- Minimum of 2-10 years (Dependant on Level of role) of experience in supporting learning management systems (SuccessFactors) through direct, hands-on administration in support of a L&D department
- Experience in partnering with a L&D department and related stakeholders/vendor partners in the development of learner journeys, content and deployment via learning platforms
- Understanding of the role of a global function within broader enterprise strategy
- Previous experience in a global role or working with cross-functional teams across different regions/markets
- Strong business acumen: project management, vendor management, and budget management capabilities
- Strategic thinking, creativity, and capacity to assist others in developing ideas and business opportunities
- Highly coachable/ Thrives in an environment of continuous growth
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical or biotechnology industries, preferably in support of the L&D or HR departments
