The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own a caseload of civil litigation matters from the discovery and deposition phase through trial. The work spans motion practice, expert collaboration and case planning, with a high degree of independence.
What you'll do
- Conduct and defend depositions of parties, treating physicians and retained experts.
- Prepare and argue motions in California state and federal courts.
- Write pleadings, pre-suit demands and discovery requests and responses.
- Prepare witnesses ahead of depositions and trial.
- Shape case strategy and partner with medical and other specialist experts to develop liability and damages positions.
- Examine medical records to understand how injuries occurred and where causation questions arise.
- Appear at hearings, mediations and settlement conferences.
- Keep clients and colleagues updated while running your own docket.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- Current membership in the California State Bar, or eligibility to sit for it.
- A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Roughly 2 to 3 years of civil litigation practice, though recent graduates who have passed or are eligible for the bar may be considered.
- Plaintiff-side background is preferred, and strong defense-side background will be considered.
- Direct experience both taking and defending depositions.
- Proven motion practice in California state court.
- Courtroom experience in a first or second seat on significant injury matters.
- Excellent legal writing across pleadings, discovery and motions.
- Comfort reviewing medical records and understanding anatomy and typical treatment paths.
- Experience working with outside expert witnesses.
- Ability to juggle a heavy workload and competing deadlines.
- Authorization to work in the US.
Benefits
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary: USD 100,000 to 185,000 per year

- On-site, 5 days per week in the office
