The Role

As a Linux Systems Administrator at Kyndryl, you’ll be responsible for managing, supporting, and maintaining Linux-based server environments to ensure system availability, stability, and security. In this role, you will provide operational support for critical production systems, respond to incidents under defined SLAs, and collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure teams to deliver reliable IT services.

You will work hands-on with enterprise Linux platforms, performing system administration, troubleshooting, patching, and performance monitoring. Your contribution will directly support business-critical workloads and Kyndryl’s commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Linux operating systems across enterprise environments, including Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, and SUSE.

  • Install, configure, harden, and maintain servers to ensure availability, performance, and compliance with security standards.

  • Monitor systems, analyze logs, and troubleshoot incidents and performance issues in production environments within defined SLAs.

  • Execute operating system patching, updates, and proactive monitoring to support system stability and capacity management.

  • Document operational procedures and collaborate with other technology towers such as database, middleware, cloud, and storage teams.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years of experience administering and supporting Linux operating systems in production environments.

  • Hands-on experience with server installation, configuration, hardening, and ongoing maintenance.

  • Experience responding to incidents, performing root cause analysis, and supporting SLAs.

  • Knowledge of user and permission management, security controls, and system access management.

  • Intermediate English proficiency for technical documentation and collaboration with global teams.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or higher certification.

  • Experience with system services and tools such as systemd, cron, SSH, NFS, Samba, and Apache.

  • Familiarity with SELinux, ACLs, and sudo configuration.

  • Basic scripting skills for automation (Bash).

  • Experience working in coordinated infrastructure environments with multiple technical teams.
