As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the administration, performance tuning, and automation of our Linux-based systems. You will work closely with developers, network engineers, and traders to ensure system reliability and low-latency performance. This is a hands-on role that requires expertise in Linux systems, scripting, and infrastructure automation.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain, monitor, and optimize Linux systems to ensure high availability and performance.
- Automate tasks using a combination of Python, Bash, Ansible and Rundeck.
- Troubleshoot hardware, OS, and network issues in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Deploy and manage configuration automation tools like Ansible and Salt.
- Manage life cycle of Linux servers from OS deployment to system configuration.
- Support AWS/GCP cloud environments using infrastructure as code.
- Work with developers to optimize application performance and system resources.
- Ensure system security through best practices, patching, and monitoring.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to critical system issues.
- Research and evaluate new technologies to improve efficiency and scalability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in Linux system administration (Red Hat, CentOS or Rocky preferred).
- Experience managing Docker images and clusters like Docker Swarm, Nomad, or Kubernetes
- Experience with managing AWS/GCP infrastructure as code using Terraform.
- Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible and Salt.
- Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or a similar language.
- Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, multicast, DNS, firewalls).
- Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, or similar).
- Understanding of low-latency trading environments is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-performance environment.
- Desire to learn new technologies both inside our environment and out.
