BAE Systems is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) experience. In this role, you will administer servers and perform cybersecurity functions to support a research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) environment. You will build, configure, test, diagnose, repair server operating systems and applications, and automate tasks using scripts. To test connectivity and diagnose issues, you will also need some proficiency with Cisco operating systems. This is a dynamic environment in which configurations frequently change to support the RDT&E mission. Your goal will be to ensure servers are fully functional and configured to approved specifications for test and training events. Work is performed at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island, VA. SCSC is located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and provides AEGIS and Ship Self-Defense System (SSDS) combat systems for engineering, testing, training, and certification
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
This position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and four (4) years of relevant experience with 2 years of Cisco operating system experience. An additional four (4) years of experience and a cybersecurity certification (e.g., Security+) may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.
Must be willing and able to perform in a variety of 40-hour work-week configurations, including:
1. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 1st Shift
2. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 2nd Shift
3. Variable 4 x 10 shifts that may include weekends (4 days on/3 days off) and may be 1st or 2nd shift
4. Sliding (5 x 8) work weeks (Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday) and may be 1st or 2nd shift
**Additionally, these work week configurations may rotate to meet mission requirements.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- A related U.S. Navy NEC.
- Experience with U.S. Navy AEGIS and/or SSDS systems.
- Linux and/or Cisco certifications.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $59023 - $100339

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
