How you will make an impact:
Meissner Corporation is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator II based at our Camarillo, CA headquarters to independently design, deploy, and maintain the Linux server infrastructure that supports our manufacturing and business operations. Reporting to the Supervisor, IT Coordination, you will own system stability, performance, and security for assigned platforms with minimal oversight, and serve as a technical resource for Level I Administrators. In this role you will also independently design and administer Model Context Protocol (MCP) connections within our enterprise AI tool. This role is well suited to an experienced administrator ready to take ownership of projects and mentor junior staff.
- Build, deploy, and maintain Linux servers (on-prem and/or cloud), ensuring stability, performance, and security.
- Manage hardening and patch-management practices for assigned systems; define and apply secure configuration baselines.
- Manage user access, sudo privileges, and audit trails across Linux hosts, including periodic access reviews.
- Build, manage, and troubleshoot container environments and orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes) with minimal oversight.
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments; integrate container builds and image registries.
- Architect and implement observability and alerting strategies (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar) for assigned platforms.
- Develop automation and scripting solutions (Bash, Python) to eliminate manual and repetitive operational tasks.
- Own backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes for assigned systems; lead periodic recovery testing.
- Design and administer Model Context Protocol (MCP) connections within the enterprise AI tool, integrating new internal systems and data sources.
- Administer and optimize web/application server infrastructure, including performance tuning and release coordination for internally hosted applications.
- Install, configure, and maintain database server instances (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) on Linux systems, including patching, security hardening, and infrastructure-level backup/recovery.
- Serve as a point of escalation for complex incidents; lead root cause analysis and drive corrective actions to resolution.
- Participate in vendor and tooling evaluations for infrastructure and platform investments.
- Create and maintain advanced documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to Level I Administrators.
This is an on-site role based out of our headquarters in Camarillo, CA.
The skills and experience you’ll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience administering Linux systems in a production environment.
- Strong scripting/automation skills (Bash and Python).
- Solid experience with Docker and container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes preferred).
- Working experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including compute, networking, and storage services.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI).
- Strong networking troubleshooting skills (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, routing).
- Experience with monitoring/observability tooling and incident/capacity management.
- Demonstrated experience with secure system configuration, access control, and vulnerability remediation.
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining database server software (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) on Linux at the infrastructure level, including backup/recovery and basic replication or clustering setup; this is infrastructure-level database support, not a database administrator role.
- Experience with, or strong working knowledge of, enterprise AI tooling and API-based integrations (e.g., Model Context Protocol connections).
- Experience administering web/application servers and supporting production web applications.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior team members and lead small technical initiatives.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
