Job Responsibilities:
What you can expect
We are looking for a hands-on, reliable engineer to operate and evolve our Linux server estate across on-premise and cloud environments. You will work with Ubuntu, CentOS, and RHEL on both physical hardware and virtualized platforms (VMware), as well as in AWS and Azure. Configuration management is centered around Puppet. Linux systems are integrated with Active Directory via sssd. Docker experience is a plus. You will join a globally distributed team.
- Operate, administer, and harden Linux systems (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL) on physical hardware and in VMware, AWS, and Azure
- Provision, maintain, and troubleshoot bare-metal systems (including firmware, RAID, and hardware diagnostics)
- Implement and maintain Puppet-based configuration management and automation
- Integrate and maintain Linux-AD authentication using sssd (Kerberos/LDAP, PAM/NSS, sudo policies)
- Perform patching, lifecycle, and vulnerability remediation in line with security best practices
- Monitor system health and availability using Prometheus/Alertmanager/Icinga; tune alerting and remediate incidents
- Troubleshoot system, network, and storage issues (DNS, DHCP, routing, NFS/SMB)
- Work with storage technologies including Fibre Channel and S3 buckets
- Collaborate across time zones with a 9-person global operations team; participate in an on-call rotation
- Create and maintain clear operational documentation
What you'll bring
- 2+ years of experience running Linux in production (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL)
- Experience with VMware vSphere and with at least one public cloud (AWS, Alibaba or Azure)
- Solid hands-on knowledge of Puppet in an enterprise setting
- Practical experience with AD integration on Linux via sssd
- Proficient in Bash; Python or similar scripting experience is an advantage
- Good understanding of networking and security fundamentals (TLS, firewalls, SEL Linux/AppArmor)
- Experience with Prometheus/Nagios/Icinga for monitoring and alerting
- Comfortable working with a distributed team and clear written/verbal communication in English

- Docker and containerization experience
- Exposure to Git-based workflows and code review practices
