Morning Studio is the award-winning brand studio of the South China Morning Post. We bridge the gap between journalism and advertising, creating high-impact branded content that resonates with a global audience.
Working under the Executive Video Producer, our video team is a fast-moving hub of in-house producers and external specialists. We are seeking a Line Producer who acts as the operational backbone of the studio—the person who turns ambitious creative concepts into organized, on-budget, and logistically seamless productions.
In this role you will:- Budgeting & Financial Management: Own the video production budget for each campaign from initial pitch to final wrap. You will create detailed line-item budgets, track costs, and ensure healthy margins across all branded projects.
- Logistics & Scheduling: Mastermind the production calendar. You will coordinate shoot dates, travel logistics, and equipment rentals, ensuring that our in-house producers and freelance assistants are utilized efficiently.
- Vendor & Talent Management: Source, negotiate with, and contract external vendors, including production houses, colorists, animators, and sound engineers. You will also oversee talent casting and manage all freelancer payroll and invoicing.
- Compliance & Risk: Ensure every shoot is legally sound. This includes securing location permits, managing production insurance, and overseeing all talent/music releases and intellectual property rights.
- Operational Oversight: Act as the bridge between the Executive Video Producer and the "on-the-ground" crew. You will oversee the workflow of in-house and freelance production staff to ensure milestones are met on time.
- Post-Production Traffic: Manage the delivery pipeline. You will coordinate the hand-off of assets between editors, animators, and colorists to ensure the final output meets Morning Studio’s premium standards.
- The Track Record: 5+ years of experience in line producing or production management within a commercial agency, branded content studio, or high-end production house.
- Financial Rigor: Expert-level proficiency in budgeting. You have a proven ability to manage six-figure budgets with precision.
- Local Expertise: A deep understanding of the Hong Kong production landscape, including union regulations, permit requirements, and an extensive "black book" of local crew and vendors.
- Problem Solving: You are a strategic thinker who can anticipate logistical bottlenecks before they happen and provide solutions that keep the cameras rolling.
- The Toolkit: Proficient in project management software and a solid understanding of the technical requirements for modern video formats (4K workflows, social-first aspect ratios, etc.).
- Soft Skills: A calm, authoritative presence. You can manage high-pressure situations with diplomacy and communicate effectively with both high-level executives and technical crew. Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to speak "creative" and "finance" fluently. Fluency in English is required; Cantonese or Mandarin is a significant advantage.
Why Join Us?
