Job Responsibilities:

The Line Leader in the Production Department at Co-Ex-Tec is responsible for overseeing a team of production workers to ensure efficient and high-quality manufacturing operations. This role involves coordinating daily activities, monitoring performance, providing guidance and support, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. The Team Leader plays a crucial role in fostering a collaborative and productive work environment

**Please note this is for Night Shift (10pm-6am)

  • Conduct start of shift meeting to review previous day (or shift) results, highlighting any problems or achievements, review shift targets, communicate quality issues, discuss recent continuous improvements implemented and address any concerns from the work center team while encouraging improvement ideas from the team.
  • Re-enforce adherence to the standards within the work centers regarding standardized work, quality and maintenance.
  • Communicate quality concerns and suggest corrective action where applicable.
  • Report problems and abnormalities to shift supervisor immediately after a non-conforming part is produced. 
  • Able to perform any operation within the work centers and be able to transfer knowledge (train) others how to follow the standardized work.
  • Ensure compliance and enforcement of Customer Specific Requirements, QMS (IATF16949), Health and Safety (ISO 45001), EMS (ISO14001), and security (PIP) requirements.
  • Operate equipment in the department as per the equipment operating instructions
  • Verify equipment safety inspection checklists are completed at the start of shift and follow up with associated work order where required.
  • Fill in for Team Members that need to temporarily leave the line (ex. Bathroom Breaks, etc)
  • Review hour-by-hour performance (hourly at a minimum) and take actions to correct problems.   
  • Record problems and actions taken.
  • Provide raw materials for work cells. Advise Supervisor and or Materials Department of continuing shortages and or misplaced and or miss-labeled stock.
  • Ensure finished goods are organized, handled and labeled properly.
  • Ensure that all production and scrap are reported accurately.
  • Initiate and/or participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Assist in coordinating and performing routine changeovers and set-up activities according to production schedule and customer requirements.
  • Ensure all changeover materials are in the work center and ready in advance.
  • Advise Supervisor when a non-scheduled changeover is required. Assist team members as necessary in minor stoppages and repairs including PLC resets.
  • Advise process/set-up/tooling/maintenance and or Supervisor if additional assistance is required.
  • Verify through visual check, that all machines are set to the process parameters on the run sheets. 
  • Coach team members as necessary. Advise Supervisor of any continuing off standard conditions.
  • Conduct layered audits as scheduled Assist in the investigation and resolution of off standard quality conditions. Ensure appropriate containment actions are in place. 
  • Ensure issues are communicated to all shifts. Advise Supervisor of any continuing problems.
  • Ensure Operators respect the Standardized work (Checking, Training, Coaching) Work independently with a minimum of direct Supervision.
  • Provide reinforcement to the team in a manner that demonstrates Co Ex Tec’s commitment to our quality policy and the Employee’s Charter.
  • Participating in operator reviews with Supervisor Follow all safety procedures in the workplace, including the customer and other Magna locations.  
  • Enforce and participate in CI and TIM program initiatives Perform all associated Quality Inspections for First-off, Last-off and In-process inspection requirements Respond to Team Member Andon calls for assistance and support resolution of safety, quality and productivity concerns.
  • Participate in Tier 1 and Tier 2 communication processes and escalate issues according to established escalation procedures.
  • Conduct and document Standardized Work Observations in accordance with Magna standards.
  • Train Team Members using Training Within Industry (TWI) Job Instruction methodology.
  • Support Team Member autonomous maintenance activities and TPM initiatives.
  • Maintain Leader Standard Work and Team communication boards.
  • Maintain and improve 5S standards through routine verification and coaching.
  • Utilize structured problem-solving methods to identify and eliminate process deviations. Maintain team training matrices and support cross-training activities
  • All other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or mentoring role within an automotive industry.

Compensation: $30-32/hour

Skills Required

  • 3 years of manufacturing experience with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or mentoring role within the automotive industry.
  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Availability to work Night Shift (10pm-6am).
