POSITION: LIFESTYLE LEAD

FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT

JOB SUMMARY: The Lifestyle Lead is responsible for managing the health care activity programming. Position plans and implements activities, provides supervision of team members, and manages a volunteer force.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:

  • Design therapeutic programs appropriate based on resident interests and ability. Assess each resident’s leisure and lifestyle interest upon admission. Organize the scheduling of therapeutic activities for resident participation both individually as well as in group structures. Create activities within and outside of the community with events to stimulate and promote resident interest and general well-being.
  • Motivate residents to participate in daily planned activities. Create, write, and update care plans tnd therapeutic activity programming.
  • Ensure resident satisfaction levels are achieved through quality and hospitality services and initiatives.
  • Actively participate in resident care conference meetings.
  • Provide accurate documentation electronically for resident assessments, MDS, care plans, progress notes, interest surveys, behaviors, and safety concerns.
  • Directly responsible for hiring, scheduling, training, performance management and corrective action. Ensure scheduled, total, and overtime hours are within budget.
  • Recruit, orient, and direct volunteer team, including selecting appropriate volunteer candidates for specific assignments.
  • Lead activity for individual as well as group programs; documenting participation and resident achievement levels.
  • Responsible for team member engagement, relations, recognition, and retention.
  • Ensure operating, inventory and labor budget parameters are achieved.
  • Coordinate the transportation of residents to and from recreational areas to participate in scheduled programs. Oversee the promoting and publication of activity programming brochures and calendars.
  • As assigned, participate in resident committees. Provide written and oral reports of activities at the Quality Assurance Committee meeting.
  • Assist in the development of department policies.
  • Implement and assist in evaluating the progress of strategic plan initiatives.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.

  • Position may require some outside travel.

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree

Three to five years applicable experience

Certifications required by state regulations. Industry certification includes NCCAP or CTRS.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Experience leading a team is preferred.

Possess a genuine appreciation of geriatric population.

Knowledgeable of the basic theories and practices of the therapeutic and motivational use of resident activities.

Ability to plan, organize, develop, and efficiently implement events independently and in group involvement.

Knowledgeable of computer functions for computerized activity programs.

Ability to deal with resident behavioral problems as they arise.

Knowledgeable of individual or group behavior.

Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with residents, vendors, and team members.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: The daily responsibilities of this position constantly require effective talking, hearing, sitting, walking, and standing functions. The position often involves light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to read print and computer-based materials and to do so with consistent accuracy. Most of these functions requirement light physical exertion and are conducted in a temperature-controlled environment with occasional exposure to hot and cold temperature. May be exposed to communicable diseases, blood born pathogens, cleaning chemicals, dust, odors, and a variety of different pets.

INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. This position requires the ability to deal with and find resolution to problems and maintain a productive working relationship with team members and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of others. It also requires adaptability to fluctuate between priorities daily while being responsive to needs as they arise.

OSHA Category Classification:

Category III: Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.

The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids.
