What does this job entail? 

Our Level 2 IT Project Engineer will have deep technical skills, experience working in an MSP or similar environment, and strong client relationship skills. Our Project Engineers serve on our ProServices Team.

In a typical week, you might just be installing access points, switches and a firewall at a school Monday-Wednesday, deploying Windows laptops at a nonprofit on Thursday, and standing up a server environment for a law firm on Friday. Some projects last a few hours, whereas others last days or weeks. Regardless, your job will be to execute well, delight our clients, and set them up for success. 

What are the position responsibilities? 

  • Apply technical skill to a wide variety of issues supporting workstations, networking, virtualization, servers, cloud, wireless access points, and standard office applications.
  • Follow established best practices, including Macro project templates, audits, and Knowledge Base articles. 
  • Handle network design, infrastructure implementation and support: physical and virtual servers, routers, firewalls, switches, wireless access points
  • Oversee cloud services implementation, migration, and support (Both Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace) 
  • Complete workstation onboarding including Intune and Auto Pilot deployments 
  • Participate in other common project deployments as demanded by our clientele, including but not limited to Chromebook deployments, mounting projectors and Interactive Flat Panels, tablet and mobile device management deployment, etc. 
  • Add detailed notes to every project task or ticket for all time worked and all resolutions identified.
  • Escalate task failures or roadblocks immediately to Project Coordinator. 
  • Contribute to creating scoping tickets, including conducting client walk throughs 
  • Conduct QA on projects for other Pro Services team members 

What knowledge, skills, and abilities do you have? 

  • Experience implementing technical projects 
  • Experience supporting technology onsite and remotely
  • Experience communicating technical information to non-technical people
  • Ability to track hardware procurement, installation, build outs, and associated activities 
  • Organizational skills to provide ongoing status updates on project progress and prioritize resource allocation 
  • Strong written skills for communicating with clients via our ticketing system and maintaining proper documentation in our systems 

What credentials and experience do you have? 

  • 4+ years of demonstrated project engineer experience in networking & Microsoft AD environments. Experience implementing network and Microsoft environments from the design phase through deployment. (If you do not have this experience, it is unlikely you will receive an interview.) 
  • 2-3+ years of Managed Service Provider (MSP) experience 
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure, managed services, and cybersecurity) 
  • Experience with a professional ticketing system (knowing AutoTask PSA is a plus) 
  • Experience with project scoping, development of project plans, and execution 
  • Degree from an accredited university, or equivalent experience via relevant project certifications 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills 
  • Deep love of attention to detail and maintaining superb documentation 
  • Ability to work under pressure, while maintaining a positive attitude and a sense of humor 
  • Ability to be a self-starter, who can be trusted to work largely unsupervised
  • Reliable transportation for use during business hours 
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check in order to be eligible to work in schools
