What You'll Do
- Conduct audits of local governmental entities in accordance with professional auditing standards.
- Examine and review records, reports, financial statements, and management practices.
- Evaluate financial statement presentation, internal controls, compliance, and operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Produce clear, logical, and well-supported workpapers and data analyses.
- Communicate clearly with auditees, coworkers, elected officials, and stakeholders.
- Take initiative, seek continuous improvement, and contribute to a collaborative team culture.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with at least 24 semester hours in accounting
- Ability to learn quickly, think critically, problem solve, and produce accurate work
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work tactfully with coworkers, auditees, and stakeholders
- Sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license (not required but strongly encouraged for advancement)
- Experience in auditing, governmental accounting, or related fields
