What You'll Do
  • Conduct audits of local governmental entities in accordance with professional auditing standards.
  • Examine and review records, reports, financial statements, and management practices.
  • Evaluate financial statement presentation, internal controls, compliance, and operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Produce clear, logical, and well-supported workpapers and data analyses.
  • Communicate clearly with auditees, coworkers, elected officials, and stakeholders.
  • Take initiative, seek continuous improvement, and contribute to a collaborative team culture.

What We're Looking For
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with at least 24 semester hours in accounting
  • Ability to learn quickly, think critically, problem solve, and produce accurate work
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work tactfully with coworkers, auditees, and stakeholders
  • Sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
Preferred:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license (not required but strongly encouraged for advancement)
  • Experience in auditing, governmental accounting, or related fields

Logistics
Travel: For Local Government Auditors, travel is required but is generally confined to same day commutes to and from a job site. Overnight stays may be required, as necessary.
Compensation: Competitive salary and benefits, including annual and sick leave, insurance plans, pension, 401(k), college fee waivers, and flexible schedules.
