The Legal Intern will support the implementation of justice for children programming, assist community childcare workers, and engage in administrative activities with legal authorities. Responsibilities include capacity building, operationalizing learning, safeguarding, and maintaining documentation and stakeholder communication.

- Provide support in the development,
identification and institutionalization of standardized approaches and best
practices to implement Justice for children
- Support community childcare workers (CCWs),
LIP staff and other Volunteers in understanding justice for children
programming and being sensitive to the needs of children in need of legal
support.
- Support the capacity building of CCWs, Social
workers and LIPs to undertake effective justice for children work.
- Support Social workers and LIPs in all
administrative engagements with the Police and Ministry of Justice, Legal and

- Act as an ambassador for culture change. Play
an active and committed role in embedding the national and international
approaches to safeguarding and strengthening the consistency and quality of the
JF Kapnek Trust’s response.
- Participate in reviewing JF Kapnek
Safeguarding policies.
- Ensure safeguarding standards are met and maintained
- Support the coordination and distribution of
policies, procedures and safeguarding resources throughout the organisation.
- Facilitate
linkages of primary packages through referrals
- Support
OVC needs assessments and develop their care plans
- Ensure
all case plans are updated and inform service provision
- Documentation
of beneficiary information and record keeping
- Initiate
and attend stakeholder meetings
Requirements
- Bachelor’s
degree in law
- Demonstrable
knowledge of child development, children rights & specifically child
abuse.
- Excellent
verbal & written skills, proficient in English, Shona &/or
Ndebele.
- Proficient
in MS Office packages Bachelor’s
- Registered
with the relevant professional body in Zimbabwe
- Working
experience in providing Legal support to OVC
- Working
understanding of the National Case Management System
- Proven
understanding of linkages between HIV/AIDS and Child Protection.
- Conversant
with community -based models in HIV and Child Protection Programming
- Excellent
knowledge of various training and capacity building models (a must)
- Demonstrated understanding of the Education,
Health and Child Protection Systems in Zimbabwe
Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in law
- Demonstrable knowledge of child development, children rights & child abuse
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Shona and/or Ndebele
- Proficient in MS Office packages
- Registered with the relevant professional body in Zimbabwe
- Working experience in providing Legal support to OVC
- Working understanding of the National Case Management System
- Proven understanding of linkages between HIV/AIDS and Child Protection
