Legal Intern (Governance, Risk, and Compliance)
This is a remote internship for a current legal student, working 40 hours a week for the duration of the summer
The Role
The Governance, Risk, and Compliance Intern will be an integral part of Fusion Risk Management, Inc.'s ("Fusion") Legal Department and assist the Senior Director of Compliance with privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence audits. Additionally, there will be opportunities to learn about and contribute to Fusion's enterprise risk program. Specifically, through the Risk Management, Business Continuity, and Third-Party Management functions. This role will provide an excellent opportunity for growth and exposure to Fusion's executive leadership team (CTO, CFO, GC).
Specific, day-to-day responsibilities of the role shall include:
Governance
- Assist with the planning and execution of Fusion's quarterly Governance Steering Committee meetings.
- Draft and review artificial intelligence policies for Fusion's artificial intelligence management system.
- Work with various stakeholders (Security, Engineering, Legal, etc.) to make sure practices related to privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence are developed with industry standard best practices in mind.
Risk
- Identify risk mitigation opportunities and implement procedures to mitigate.
- Assist with the development and execution of comprehensive and integrated exercises to test Business Continuity plans.
- Assess incoming and existing vendors and tracking in the Fusion Framework the services each performs, the data types held by the vendor, etc. Compliance:
- Assist with the execution of Fusion's upcoming SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 27701, ISO 42001 audits.
- Help drive the execution of Fusion's GDPR gap assessment. • Track and assist with the mitigation of audit findings.
Compliance:
- Assist with the execution of Fusion's upcoming SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 27701, ISO 42001 audits.
- Help drive the execution of Fusion's GDPR gap assessment.
- Track and assist with the mitigation of audit findings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Required)
High level of personal initiative, creativity and self-motivation.
- Bachelor's degree and actively working toward completing a JD.
- Demonstrated interest in business, corporate governance, privacy, or artificial intelligence.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to succinctly summarize key findings.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and indirect influencing skills.
