Company Description

We welcome fearless thinkers.

For over 100 years, Maurice Blackburn has stood up for those who need us most. With courage and compassion, we extend access to justice to countless Australians. We look beyond the immediate challenge to support people in moments that matter across their lives and continually push for better solutions for our clients. We invest in and empower our people to stand up for what we believe in and go fearlessly forward together.

We work on real cases, achieving important and positive results in real people’s lives, which is why we are one of Australia’s most respected law firms. Maurice Blackburn, experience you can count on.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll sit inside The Foundry’s build squad, working day-to-day with engineers, product leads, designers and marketers as new AI products take shape. You provide the legal judgement in the room: you decide what a product should produce, test whether it does, and say what needs to change before it reaches clients.

Your work includes writing the legal content behind guardrails, system prompts and agent tooling and rapidly iterating AI-generated outputs until they’re accurate. You turn legislation, advice and playbooks into decision logic that engineers can build, and content our clients can easily digest. You document your reasoning and raise contentious calls with the team before release.

You’ll also work closely with clients while products are being built and launched. You’ll take client consults, observe how people actually experience the product, and use what you learn to shape what the team builds next. This is a hands-on, iterative role: build something, put it in front of clients, learn from what works and what doesn’t, and work with the team to improve it quickly.

What you’ll do:

  • Help design, test and improve AI-enabled legal products and services.
  • Translate legal advice, legislation and processes into scalable workflows, decision logic and client experiences.
  • Develop and refine legal guardrails, prompts and frameworks that support quality and compliance.
  • Review and validate AI-generated outputs to ensure legal accuracy and client-focused outcomes.
  • Work closely with product, engineering and design as part of the team who brings new ideas to life.
  • Analyse legal processes and client journeys to identify opportunities for improvement and automation.
  • Engage directly with clients during testing and validation to continuously improve solutions.
  • Support the rollout and adoption of new products across the business.

What we’re looking for:

Your legal career doesn’t need to be traditional. You’re an admitted lawyer with a current practising certificate (or eligibility to obtain one) who gets excited by technology, innovation and finding better ways to deliver legal services.

  • You have experience in a law firm, in-house legal team, legal operations or legal technology environment.
  • You're curious about AI, automation and emerging technologies, and can see their potential to improve legal services.
  • You can apply sound legal judgement while balancing innovation, risk and client outcomes.
  • You're comfortable translating complex legal concepts into practical solutions that others can understand and use.
  • You enjoy working collaboratively with lawyers, product managers, engineers and designers.
  • You're comfortable in a fast-moving environment where ideas are tested, refined and improved quickly.
  • Experience with legal technology, workflow automation or AI-enabled products will be highly regarded.

Team MB benefits:

  • Ongoing coaching and career development opportunities
  • End-of-year leave: 1 day in the first year, 4 days after 2 years
  • Comprehensive mental health framework, including wellbeing leave (up to 4 extra days per year) and $299 reimbursement
  • 22 Weeks Parental leave with your superannuation guaranteed and back-to-work transition policy
  • Rewards and recognition platform with fitness, retail, and entertainment discounts
  • A hybrid flex working model
  • Salary Continuance & Life Insurance
  • 17.5% Annual Leave Loading

Here we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive culture, enriched by differences in ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, religion, age and family arrangements.
