From Procurement to Finance to IT services and much more, the Quality & Operation Department provides critical support for all of Huawei Canada. About the job:
Provide efficient and knowledgeable legal support to the business;
Draft, review and negotiate various types of contracts, including but not limited to procurement agreements, leases, research and development agreements, services agreements;
Advise internal business teams on legal issues, including but not limited to employment matters, privacy and data protection, corporate governance, compliance, risk management, etc.;
Provide legal advice and support on litigation, settlement and dispute resolution;
Communicate with headquarters in China and localize HQ’s legal requirements in Canada;
Keep track of legislative development, and maintain resources of external counsels;
Advice on all other legal issues as they may arise.
The total target annual compensation for this position ranges from $80,000 to $130,000 depending depending on education, experience, and demonstrated expertise.
About the ideal candidate:
Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a recognized university;
Member of the Ontario bar in good standing;
3-5 years of experience in a law firm and/ within an in-house legal department, specializing in employment law, general corporate and commercial law matters;
Strong negotiations, drafting and communication skills;
Demonstrated ability to manage a demanding workload;
Business minded with sound and practical business judgement;
Self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
