Legal Counsel - Integrated Fund Platform

Job Summary:

The Legal Services Department of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (“HKEX”) is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join its existing team to assist in all aspects of legal work involved in the HKEX’s new integrated fund platform and to advise and support the relevant business units and senior management.

Job Duties:

Job Summary:

• Provide advice to business units and senior management on legal and regulatory issues arising from the launch and day-to-day operation of HKEX’s new integrated fund platform;
• Draft, review, advise and negotiate agreements and other related documentation with fund houses, distributors, transfer agents, custodians and other relevant market players;
• Provide advice on the documentation impacts of relevant regulations both regionally and internationally from both fund houses’ and distributors’ perspectives;
• Support new strategic initiatives and business development of the HKEX’s new integrated fund platform, potentially connecting with GBA and other parts of Mainland China;
• Review a wide range of contracts covering the engagement of vendors, IT contracts, regulatory cooperation and other aspects relating to HKEX's new integrated fund platform; and
• Work with and manage external counsel and undertake a mix of typical in-house functions to support the HKEX’s group business.

 

Requirements:

The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following attributes:

• Hong Kong qualified lawyer with ideally 8 years' post qualification experience and a focus on or exposure to fund distribution services and related regulatory matters or asset management business generally;
• Proven in-house experience working in legal or regulatory compliance of financial institutions with a particular focus on distribution channels;
• Excellent written and spoken English and good Chinese language skills are essential, and proficiency in Putonghua would be an added advantage; and
• A team player with strong commercial sense and analytical skill and the ability to work independently and support senior management.
