Legal Counsel, Fintech - New Payments
About Satispay
Satispay was born to revolutionise everyday payments – making them simple, fair, and accessible to everyone. Now, the focus has moved even further, aiming to shape the future of money.
We're a movement empowering millions of people, driven by a shared purpose to tackle big challenges. And we're just getting started. We move quickly, think boldly, and trust each other to challenge the norm, learning and growing as we go.
If you're looking for more than just your next job – if you want to build something impactful with a talented team – you're in the right place.
What you’ll be doing
As a Legal Counsel, your focus will be on providing high-level legal guidance within the dynamic Fintech sector, particularly in payments and e-money, offering strategic counsel on regulatory, contractual, and product-related matters to ensure compliance and mitigate risks. Here's what your day-to-day will look like:
Product development support – Collaborate cross-functionally to design and launch new products and services in Payments, integrating basic technical and engineering considerations into legal analysis.
Risk assessment & management – Identify legal and regulatory risks and propose effective mitigation strategies aligned with our risk appetite to safeguard the organization.
Regulatory compliance – Advise on relevant financial regulatory requirements, including PSD2, AML/KYC, e-money regulations, and MiFID II, ensuring adherence.
Contract drafting & negotiation – Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including partnership, service level, vendor, and technology agreements.
Stakeholder management – Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing pragmatic legal guidance and fostering a culture of legal awareness across the organization.
Expect challenges, collaboration, and the freedom to bring your ideas to life. Things change quickly here, so be ready to adapt, take initiative, and shape your role as we grow.
Who we’re looking for
We need a problem-solver with a strong analytical mindset who thrives in a collaborative environment. If you’re detail-oriented and ready to take ownership in a dynamic setting, you’ll fit right in! Does this sound like you?
Relevant education – You’re a qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5 years PQE, and ideally 8–10 years of professional legal experience.
Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge – You bring deep knowledge of financial regulations (PSD2, AML/KYC, EMRs, MiFID II) and a demonstrable track record in Fintech and Payments, ideally with experience in both private practice and in-house settings.
Analytical mindset – You’re able to dive deep into complex legal issues, exercise strong judgment, and make sound risk-based decisions.
Technical and commercial awareness – You have a clear understanding of basic technology and engineering processes in Fintech and Payments, with prior experience working with technical teams being a significant plus; you can balance legal risks with commercial considerations.
Language fluency – English fluency (both written and spoken) is essential, while knowledge of Italian or French is a plus for effective communication within our international context.
Don't worry if you don't tick every box. We believe in the power of different viewpoints and strengths. Your unique perspective is important as we build something special. If you're passionate and can make a difference, we truly encourage you to apply.
