Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. (QPWB), a multi-office national defense firm and the largest minority- and women-owned law firm in the United States, is seeking a Legal Assistant to support our New York / New Jersey offices. About the RoleThe Legal Assistant will support attorneys handling civil litigation defense matters, with a focus on cases in New York Supreme Court. This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Draft and prepare correspondence and legal documents, including basic pleadings and filings, under attorney direction
- Handle NYSCEF e-filing and ensure compliance with New York court procedures
- Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including court deadlines, hearings, and depositions
- Organize and maintain case files (physical and electronic), ensuring accuracy and accessibility
- Monitor case progress and escalate issues requiring attorney involvement
- Schedule depositions, hearings, and client meetings
- Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel
- Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and case materials
- Provide general administrative and litigation support as needed
- 3+ years of legal assistant experience supporting attorneys in civil litigation, preferably in New York
- Experience with New York Supreme Court litigation strongly preferred
- Familiarity with NYSCEF filing procedures required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
