About the role

Our Medical Negligence team is dedicated to protecting the rights and entitlements of our clients. We’re now looking for a permanent Legal Assistant to join our Brisbane-based team, in a full time capacity. 

The successful candidate will be someone who is willing to grow and develop their skills in a busy role. You will use your strong client service skills to support our clients and be in frequent contact with them. Your responsibilities will include answering and managing incoming calls, diary management, file management, preparation of correspondence, court documents and briefs of evidence, and providing day-to-day administrative support. 

  • Provide high-quality administrative and legal support to lawyers within the Medical Negligence team.
  • Manage client files from opening through to closure, ensuring accurate and timely file management.
  • Answer client enquiries and provide updates in a professional, empathetic and timely manner.
  • Liaise with clients, medical practitioners, hospitals, experts, barristers, courts and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare, draft and format legal and client correspondence and documentation.
  • Coordinate appointments, meetings, medico-legal assessments and diary management.
  • Obtain and organise medical records, reports and other evidentiary material.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including email and mail.
  • Assist with billing, file administration and matter-related reporting requirements.
  • Provide general administrative support to the broader team as required.

If you are an experienced Legal Assistant looking for a new opportunity, or someone with an administration and/or customer service background, we want to hear from you! Experience in the legal industry is preferred but not required.  

We value excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of clients. Our team works in a fast-paced environment with competing demands, so strong organisational and time management skills are a must. If you're a team player with proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, we would love to hear from you.
