The YMCA of the Pikes Peak region is looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and patient Learn & Play Associate, whose greatest passion is to see kids learn and grow, to join our Learn & Play team . Each day, our Learn & Play Associates have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the children, creating joy in each child's life by teaching through play and hands-on activities. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Learn & Play Associate will give leadership, direction, and supervision to children and participants in youth programs.  You play a key role in ensuring that program participants have a safe, supportive, positive, interactive and enriching program experience that welcomes and respects all individuals while providing programmed activities.

Responsibilities:
•    Help prepare, plan and implement a weekly curriculum
•    Supervise and participate with participants during all large and small group activities
•    Provide discipline for participants that are age appropriate and maintains respect for the child
•    Possess a working knowledge of safety and emergency procedures and be able to exercise sound judgment
•    Demonstrate proper care and storage of equipment and supplies
•    Communicate effectively with all other staff, parents, and children
•    Primary Responder for all accidents and incidents
•    Supervise locker rooms and swim with children
•    Complete routine and required forms to include, but not limited to:  attendance records, observation records, and incident and injury reports
•    Prepare snack or meals as assigned
•    May be required to work hours outside of normal work schedule for trainings, extended program

Qualifications

Qualifications:
•    Minimum age of 16 years
•    Experience with children leading recreational activities preferred
•    Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certification
