The Lean team supports the EUV Factory (EF) organization towards Operational Excellence, because we believe it as a means to realize the Vision of the factory. As a Lean Business Partner, you will be the trusted sparring partner of the Install department staff, guiding and supporting them through the change transformation.

Since the beginning of 2017, the foundations were laid to create pull for Lean principles within the EF organization. The EF staff embraced Lean Leadership behavior and the ground-work of Hoshin Kanri, Daily Performance Management and Structured Problem-Solving were laid.

10 years on, the Lean team has expanded their support by “stepping into the dance” of the operations in order to develop the Lean competency required to achieve success in our unique and challenging manufacturing and business environment.

Job Mission 

The Lean Business Partner (LBP) reports to the Senior Manager Operational Excellence within the OE department of EF. The LBP is the business partner for the Install department and responsible for driving the Install strategy on Operational Excellence. She / He sets up the performance management system (= be delegate BPO for our L3 Process ‘Performance Management’ in install) and key process indicators, monitors and (co) drives the operational excellence activities, supports and guides teams and leaders with running improvement activities, coaches them in developing problem solving techniques and Lean leadership behavior. As an LBP, you will constructively challenge the status quo and act as a role model for “applied Lean thinking”. You will not be an advisor on the sideline, but you will analyze current operations and come with tangible improvements to be more effective (Quality, Performance), and more efficient (Cycle time, Cost). Some of these improvements you will drive yourself, with the full support of the EF Install staff.

Job Description

The main responsibilities of the LBP are: driving the business performance impact of the Install Operational Excellence program (A3’s, 4C’s, Breakthrough Initiatives) and developing the Lean and Operational Excellence capabilities of the EF Install organization (training, coaching, challenge on Lean principles, being a catalyst in driving the change). The position also requires experience in both project & change management skills. (i.e. event planning, execution & follow up). The holder of this position also contributes to ASML’s Operational Excellence System by improving the Lean and Operational Excellence standards used within the EF Lean team and ASML.

In alignment with the accountable business manager, as a business partner you will:

  • Set-up the performance management system and key process indicators
  • Drive and support the strategy deployment process and performance dialogues in Install
  • Define success criteria and roles & responsibilities to make performance management part of ‘normal operations’
  • Drive progress and challenge roadblocks regularly with the Install team and other relevant stakeholders
  • Set & agree operational excellence goals and plan
  • Monitors and (co) drive the operational excellence activities (A3’s, 4C’s, breakthrough initiatives)
  • Be a role model in adapting Lean principles and coach on Lean behavior

As a Lean team member you will:

  • Share and inform the team about deployment progress, bottle-necks and help requests
  • Supports your colleagues pro-actively in the deployment or building each other’s expertise
  • Contribute to improvements to the ASML Lean standards
  • Challenge your colleagues by adapting the Lean principles in our own team
  • Improve our daily operations and participate in strategic steps
  • Be a partner towards the business in driving Lean improvements

Context of the position

The EF Install department is accountable for all worldwide EXE and NXE installs. The department consists of about 400FTE, and is part of a global hybrid organization of ~1100 FTE, together with Local & Veldhoven Customer Support UIR (Upgrade, Install, Relocation) engineers. Our main counterpart - local CS UIR organization - is responsible for the execution of the installs, and has a track record of developing many CI/BKM’s that can be applied in other areas in the world. Our job is to support them in their success, by flawless delivery of New Product Introductions, new site support, transformation improvements (Lean, BPI, IT), operational management (2-in-a-box), and continuous improvement.

The current OE/Lean team (20 fte) is a multi-talented group of professionals with extensive experience in Manufacturing, Quality, Lean and Six Sigma from manufacturing powerhouses in the automotive, aerospace, high-tech, medical and finance sectors. What the members of the team have in common is the drive and passion for helping others in becoming a Lean organization. We would like to have a new colleague who can add value to the team with his or hers experience with Lean implementation, change management and pro-actively supporting the business in implement Lean principles. Although we have mixed talents and different ways to come to solutions, “one team, one goal” is what we strive for.

Education
Bachelor or Master’s degree

Experience

  • Experience in Lean and/or Operational Excellence deployment or application is a pre-requisite
  • Additional relevant experience with continuous improvement methods (problem solving, six-sigma) or change / project management experience is a pre-requisite
  • Fundamental knowledge of Lean principles and change management models, esp. creating FLOW in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with managing change on culture and leadership
  • Facilitation, training & coaching
  • Fluent in English
