WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
As Brand Narrative Writing Manager of Nike Basketball, you will build the voice that expresses the heart and soul of Nike specific to the basketball dimension that inspire our consumers.
You enjoy collaborating and working within environments where you can learn, be given the responsibility to explore creative ideas whilst working against a clear brief. You’re not afraid of working within new areas, pushing your thinking to deliver innovative storytelling. You have experience working at scale and can handle your own schedule effectively. You enjoy crafting the detail all the way to delivery and proactively look to build on these skills.
You are familiar with working in close partnership with our Narrative Manager, designers, producers, and marketers with an ability to both understand and participate in strategic conversations and can lead others through the creative process.
As a writer, you will be a starter to the team while also delivering outstanding writing, with results that include headline and body copy for print, out-of-home, retail, and other consumer-facing creative work. You will help develop the voice of basketball on social media, inclusive of concepts, captions, and reactive efforts. Collaborating with internal partners to help craft brand and seasonal strategy and product positioning. You will contribute, lead and manage work for the highest standards of quality, consistency, and accuracy to ensure all projects are well-planned, creatively outstanding, and delivered on time. Finally, as a key member creative team, you will encourage and motivate your teammates around you, working in a hands-on and highly collaborative manner to produce fresh, distinctive, effective writing.
WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?
Drive complex workstreams independently and collaborate with others in order to develop a well-crafted narrative. Work to deliver end-to-end creative concepts across Product Launches, Brand Stories, Retail Executions, and Consumer Events working from strategy through concept and finishing with premium executions at all levels across all channels. This includes: Seasonal Stories/Products, Long Term Consumer Concepts, Construct Specifics, Purpose Stories, Sport/Cultural Moments, Social Media Content. This will also include designated teams supporting both Creative Operations and Production.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, playing a pivotal role in implementing creative storytelling across all of our channels, always thinking about the next click. Partner with the team around you to translate briefs and marketing plans into emotive and innovative stories. You will lead workstreams independently developing and crafting creative concepts for both product launches and campaigns across the globe.
Multitasking different projects will require you to carefully plan and manage your schedule effectively. Working closely with the senior creatives, you’ll play a part in crafting the future voice and storyline of the brand across every consumer touchpoint.
You will proactively learn new skills and stay abreast of technical and digital developments and successfully apply these to work practices. You’ll share this knowledge with the wider design community and work with them to ensure continuity across our initiatives and projects.
WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?
You will report to the Senior Creative Director, but day-to-day you’ll work with the Basketball Narrative Director and a team designers, producers, and communication professionals, partnering closely with Brand Creative senior leaders. You will also work directly with internal and external creatives – commissioning various work across multiple fields. You’ll be required to collaborate with your counterparts across the Geo and Territory Studios to help establish and develop our creative network.
Within the broader Marketing organization, you will work closely with the Basketball construct team to strategize and implement the annual concept map, developing and delivering creativity that answers the brief.
Aside from the day-to-day, you may get the opportunity to mentor and lead others within your subject area, supporting their growth and development.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING?

3-5 years writing in an agency, brand, or social environment.

Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

A passion for the Athlete*, Sport* and Culture.

Deep Knowledge of BASKETBALL; the sport, the athletes and its culture

A portfolio of social & brand writing across platforms, displaying a distinctive voice, expert command of style and tone, and impeccable eye for detail.

Understanding of writing within a brand organization, and how to translate business priorities into highly engaging consumer-facing content.

Excellent verbal and visual communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with strong interpersonal skills.

Experience across brand, digital, and social writing, with a solid understanding of content platforms.

Have a good pulse on what’s happening on the social media platforms.

Strong time management with ability to keep multiple projects moving forward simultaneously.
