About the Role

As a Lead Engineer, you will lead engineering decisions and guide best practices for your projects, mentoring contributing engineers assigned to your projects along the way. Engineering leads at Fueled partner with Product and Design Leads to ensure the delivery of effective mobile UX solutions. They often also collaborate with third-party technical teams to integrate remote APIs while providing guidance on improving their design. Throughout the development lifecycle, you will also be expected to provide accurate estimations at both the task and project level, continuously forecasting and mitigating risk to ensure that builds are delivered on time and perform as expected.

You’ll work in a cross-functional and collaborative environment with highly skilled and passionate team members across the globe that are committed to building exceptional products. You are excited about learning and experimenting with cutting edge technologies, and create innovative technical solutions with a high standard of execution and performance. You demonstrate a mastery of mobile software design and development at an experienced level and are capable of leading by example, coaching and mentoring less experienced mobile developers on iOS best-practices and guiding ongoing technical direction.

What We Expect

  • 6+ years of professional software development experience with at least 3 years focused on Frontend Web development
  • Expert knowledge of JavaScript (3+ years), especially ReactJS (2+years) and TypeScript (1+ years)
  • You have a deep understanding of CSS and its Preprocessors (e.g. Sass, SCSS)
  • A demonstrated mastery of building maintainable web applications using react concepts
  • You have built stateful single-page applications using HTTP/JSON APIs, WebSockets, Web Workers and Client-side storage
  • Has experience working with both 2D and 3D graphic and animation libraries, including d3.js, GASP, and Framer Motion
  • You have been part of an agile development team and favor open communication, constant feedback and short decision paths
  • Good understanding of build and lint tools, such as Webpack, ESLint, Prettier, etc.
  • You have experience applying designs from Sketch/Figma files
  • Experience developing and implementing front-end architecture to support user interface concepts
  • You have a strong understanding of web accessibility guidelines and have built compliant user interfaces
  • Experienced in writing automated tests to make the code more robust and defect free
  • Broad understanding of user interface design and is able to review application requirements and interface design
  • Preferably has personal projects or contributions to the Apple open source community

  • Is comfortable with the ins-and-outs and capable of squeezing every millisecond of performance out of the browser
  • Has proper understanding of semantic markup and know to build interactive pieces that comply to web accessibility standards
  • Has a “never-stop-learning” attitude and a desire to develop and grow
  • Has an interest in gaining exposure to other development toolkits such as React Native, Ionic or Electron
  • Has additional experience developing remote APIs in NodeJS

Interview Process

  1. Kudos for submitting your application, you’ll be hearing from us within the next 48 hours!
  2. Well done, you scored an interview! We’ll set up a Google Meet for an initial screening with a member of our Talent team to formally introduce you to Fueled! You’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions you might have. This screening will last approximately 30 minutes.
  3. The next step in our process requires you to complete a minimal coding exercise and submit back to us within a given timeframe. If your code exercise passes our evaluation, we’ll set up a technical interview with one of our Web developers. In this interview we will ask you to make adjustments to your code, so please be prepared. This chat will last approximately 1 hour.
  4. If all goes well after the technical round, you'll chat with Saurabh Kumar (Director of Web Engineering), and Sage Young (Executive Director, Engineering and Technology) to better assess your skills and experience. In this call, you’ll be able to ask questions about team dynamics, current practices, expectations, etc. The interview will be approximately 1 hour.
  5. Congrats! You made it, and we will be sending you an offer.
