About the role:
As a Lead UX Operations Manager, you will enable Target’s UX organization to operate with clarity, efficiency, and measurable impact. This role focuses on UX portfolio management, analytics, reporting, and capacity planning across the enterprise, providing leaders with the insights they need to align teams to priorities, optimize workflows, and scale design impact.
You’ll establish reporting flywheels and data-driven processes that create visibility into UX work, enabling informed decisions about where to invest time and resources. By analyzing trends across business units and portfolios, you’ll uncover opportunities to improve team allocation and shape strategies for balancing demand with capacity.
This is a highly cross-functional role that requires strong analytical and change management skills, and the ability to operate at multiple altitudes - from detailed data modeling to executive storytelling.
Responsibilities:
Lead UX portfolio management practices, including prioritization, dependency management, and investment alignment
Drive capacity modeling, resource forecasting and org sizing to balance demand and capacity
Lead adoption of tools, processes, and AI-enabled capabilities that strengthen portfolio visibility and decision-making
Define and operationalize portfolio health metrics, KPIs, and performance tracking
Analyze trends and portfolio data to identify risks, gaps, and opportunities across teams and initiatives
Connect data across tools and systems to create a cohesive view of UX work and impact
Deliver clear, executive-level reporting and storytelling to drive alignment and action
Partner with cross-functional enterprise teams across UX, Product, Technology, and Business to align priorities and improve outcomes
About you:
7+ years of experience in design operations, portfolio management, business management, or related roles in digital product organizations
Expertise in portfolio management disciplines, including capacity planning, prioritization, and investment alignment
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and translate insights into action
Experience designing scalable operating models, planning frameworks, and governance structures
Proven ability to define metrics, assess impact, and evaluate organizational and investment effectiveness
Systems thinker with fluency across tools and the ability to connect data across an ecosystem
Excellent communicator who can distill complex information into clear, compelling narratives for leadership
Demonstrated ability to influence across a large, complex organization and drive alignment across stakeholders
Growth mindset with the ability to lead through change and introduce new ways of working
