Torch Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Systems Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of complex systems for various defense and aerospace applications. This role requires a strong technical background, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to delivering innovative solutions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the entire system design lifecycle, from concept definition and requirements analysis to architecture development, detailed design, and integration.
- Translate high-level operational requirements into detailed system specifications, functional requirements, and design documentation.
- Conduct trade studies and analyses to evaluate various design alternatives and recommend optimal solutions considering performance, cost, schedule, and risk.
- Develop and maintain system block diagrams, interface control documents, and other design artifacts.
- Perform system modeling, simulation, and analysis to predict system behavior and performance.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, test engineers, and project managers.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and customer presentations.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the system development process.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements.
Job Qualifications:
- US Citizenship.
- Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience.
- Proven experience in leading the design and development of complex systems, preferably within the defense or aerospace industry.
- Expertise in system architecture definition, requirements management, and verification/validation processes.
- Proficiency in system design tools and methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to perform trade-off analyses and make sound technical decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Experience with various system integration and test methodologies.
- The the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
