We are now seeking a Lead Software/System Development and Certification Engineer (m/f/d) in Neu-Isenburg Germany.

As a new joiner, you will lead our engineering team in the critical mission of developing and certifying safe, reliable, and innovative aircraft systems and software. You will ensure that our aircraft not only meet but exceed the rigorous safety standards set forth by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Hiring details:

  • This requisition is for a locally hired position in Neu-Isenburg. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.

  • This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

  • Business Travel Requirement: You will be required to travel up to 50% of your working time to collaborate with different stakeholders and other Boeing locations

Position responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, develop a team of engineers focused on the design, analysis, and testing of aircraft software and systems, with focus on cultivating a safety-first mindset, deep understanding of certification processes as well as enhancing professional growth and technical expertise within your team

  • Serve as the primary liaison for EASA and FAA representatives and collaborate closely and transparently with them and other stakeholders to navigate the complex certification process and ensure that all system and software designs comply not only with stringent regulatory requirements and safety standards but also with Boeing’s internal command media

  • Analyze and resolve complex engineering challenges with a focus on safety, leveraging data-driven decision-making and industry best practices

  • Oversee and verify the compliant preparation and submission of comprehensive technical documentation required for EASA/FAA certification, ensuring that all materials reflect the highest standards of accuracy and thoroughness

  • Monitor project progress and performance, ensuring that engineering solutions are delivered on time and meet all safety and certification milestones

  • Lead activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems

  • Lead development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics

  • Participate in industry working groups to develop industry guidance and standards as well as authoring internal design practice documentation and command media

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, engineering technology, manufacturing engineering, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5+ years of experience as a Designated Engineering Representative (DER), Technical Standard Order (TSO) Certification Specialist, or EASA Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) or equivalent

  • Experience in RTCA DO-178(B/C) Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification

  • 5+ years’ experience in software engineering

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 12+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Current Designated Engineering Representative (DER) or Technical Standard Order (TSO) Certification Specialist, or Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE)

  • 5+ years of experience in RTCA DO-178(B/C) Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification

  • 12+ years’ experience in software development life cycles, configuration management and agile software engineering best practices

  • 9+ years’ experience developing, documenting and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems

  • 9+ years’ experience leading software development projects

  • Experience using common software version control tools such as Git

  • Experience with Agile planning tool such as JIRA, TSF
