Torch Technologies has an immediate opening for a Lead Software Engineer to develop applications and simulation infrastructure for the US Army Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC).
As a Lead Software Engineer your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:
- Provide Technical leadership of a small team that will write code related to Army defense systems, multi-processor optimization coding practices, as well as verification testing in a fast-paced environment.
- This position will be 80% technical contributions and 20% direction of junior engineers/developers to include clarifying objectives, monitoring progress, code reviews, and mentoring of best practices.
- Execute existing models, design and develop new models, create unit tests, set up execution environments, and control job flow for parallel processing.
- Must be able to work independently day-to-day towards team-established milestones with consensus from lab leadership.
- Drive development on a tight schedule, making informed decisions on priorities.
- Take a proactive role on the team to ensure all developers are appropriately tasked and on schedule.
- Work with lab leadership when problems arise so additional resources or guidance can be provided.
- Less than 10% travel to support test integration events, as needed.
Job Requirements:
- US Citizenship.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics, Engineering, or another technical discipline from an accredited university.
- 10+years applicable progressively complex software design engineering experience or a Bachelor's Degree with 12 years experience in the same areas mentioned.
- Strong programming skills with experience in C++ and Python.
- Experience in Red Hat-based Linux operating Systems (e.g., RHEL, Rocky, Oracle).
- Experience with CMake build tools and Git version control.
- Ability to collaborate in a multi-contractor team environment to deliver software solutions on schedule.
- Ability to work independently and with small teams on collaborative design.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The position requires that candidate currently hold an active secret level security clearance to access classified information.
- Inability to maintain a security clearance will result in the candidate being ineligible for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Docker or similar containerization environment.
- Experience with Kubernetes or similar virtualization environment .
- Experience writing scripts, real-time software, and working with hardware .
- Experience with Army software systems and applications, modeling and simulation, and statistical analysis.
