DE&ET is seeking a talented Lead Software Engineer to join the Growth and Commerce Platform (GCP) Engineering team.
The Growth and Commerce engineering group is responsible for orchestrating the customer flow and integrating with various other backend services during signups for Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu. We own and support many tier-1 services that need to be highly available in all regions.
We are a fast-paced and fast-growing team, where you will have influence over the technical direction and architecture for the services and tools built by the team. You will also have an opportunity to learn about the international landscape and challenges in the area of billing, payments, subscriptions, offers, and promotions as our streaming services launch around the world over the next few years.
What you'll do
- Design and implement tier-1 microservices in Java and/or Scala.
- Implement asynchronous processes to run in the cloud for various data transformation operations.
- Work on tech design for various initiatives and projects as per business needs.
- Be involved in code reviews and architecture reviews for team members.
- Participate in Agile methodology and SCRUM processes such as Sprint Planning, Backlog grooming, Daily Standups, and Retrospectives with the team.
- Provide on-call support for critical services on a rotational basis.
- Own features/functionality and deliver projects end-to-end with high quality and robust architecture.
- Communicate and work with multi-functional business partners.
- Ramp up on new domains and technologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in a technical field
- Bachelor's in CS (or related field) required
- Considered a domain specialist, higher or unique level of expertise
- Experience building scalable, robust, resilient and large scale systems
- Exposure in collaborating with multiple teams in delivering high impact features
- Experience working on relational and/or NoSQL databases
Preferred Qualifications:
- Functional programming experience with Scala or Haskell.
- Scripting experience with Python or Javascript
- Cloud experience (AWS/GCP/Azure)

The hiring range for this position in San Francisco is $163,500 to $219,200 per year, in Seattle or New York is $156,300, to $209,600 per year and in Santa Monica is $149,300 to $200,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
