About This Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced engineer who takes pride in building great applications using the latest technologies. In this role, you will help build new features for our risk management platform and take a leadership role in decision-making around architecture. You will work with a team of engineers in an agile environment. You will collaborate with our scrum teams in the development of new and existing products and will interface with your team daily to offer guidance and support on industry best practices. Your expertise will be pivotal in shaping the direction and growth of our agile team. We believe even the toughest problems can be solved with innovative solutions.
What You’ll Do (% Time Spent)
- Craft & Innovate (50%): Spearhead the design and development of standout features in close collaboration with UX designers and product architects ensuring our risk management platform remains at the forefront of innovation. Achieve hands-on development excellence in our product and technology stack. Review code and test thoroughly to ensure optimal quality of work.
- Team Leadership (25%): Take proactive steps to ensure successful delivery of new features and enhancements. Review metrics, sprint burndown charts, and work in progress with a risk-based approach to the release. Lead by example, becoming a subject matter expert in the domain. Serve as a knowledgeable mentor to other engineers, offering guidance and support to foster their professional growth and development. Additionally, conduct regular 1:1s and review cycles to provide guidance and support for the professional growth and development of team members.
- Process Improvement (10%): Take a central role in our agile-based development process, driving continuous improvements and efficiency gains to streamline our development workflow.
- Tech Exploration (10%): Pilot new technologies, keeping us on the cutting edge and ensuring our technology stack is kept up-to-date.
- Career Growth (5%): Fully engage in our dynamic and collaborative culture, seizing opportunities for personal and professional growth to advance your career journey within our organization.
About You And What Skills You’ll Need
- Experience: Proven experience in leading teams to craft customer-facing products (5+ years).
- Education: Bachelor's Degree.
- Technical Skills: Skilled in working with modern Javascript frameworks or libraries such as React, solid backend skills in Java, and RESTful APIs (AJAX, JSON). Well-acquainted with CI/CD processes and Agile methodologies.
- Core Competencies: Software Development Leadership, Hand-on Development, Team Mentorship, Coding excellence, Troubleshooting & Performance Improvement.
- Work Eligibility: Authorized to work in the US (sponsorship not available).
- Nice-to-Haves (preferred but not required): Experience with Typescript is a plus! Familiarity with Spring, Hibernate, and SQL is also a plus! Modern cloud-based SaaS development experience is a bonus.
