Lead Software Engineer, TrueTest (Java, Python)

About the role:

Katalon TrueTest is an AI-augmented test automation solution that automatically discovers, models, generates, and maintains user-journey test cases. TrueTest provides a streamlined test generation process, saving time and improving testing efficiency. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing and enhancing our flagship test automation tool, following the responsibilities of:

• Collaborate closely with the product manager and team to develop and enhance the product's new features in addition to utilizing Generative AI technology.
• Perform detailed technical analysis and design to break down the feature based on the high-level design and business requirements.
• Develop and review code that meets the development standards for code style, design patterns, readability, and maintainability and integrates best practices for scaling.
• Ensure product quality, security, and performance through technical accountability and peer collaboration.
• Leverage AI Coding Assistants to boost development efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, and identify issues early.
• Identify and implement improvements to the existing codebase.
• Contribute to internal engineering groups to build reusable libraries, tools, and frameworks.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues for customer support.
• Support automation QAs and product specialists to maintain the demo system and write scripts using new Katalon features, to test applications.

• Deep expertise in Java for building scalable backend systems and APIs using frameworks like Quarkus, Spring Boot.
• Proven ability to architect highly available, distributed systems with focus on performance, reliability, and observability.
• Strong command of Python, including core concepts, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience deploying, operating, and scaling services in cloud environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD workflows, automated testing, code reviews, version control, and tools like GitHub Actions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong understanding of software engineering principles (e.g., SOLID, DRY, modular design) and a focus on writing maintainable, high-quality code.
• Effective communication and leadership experience, including mentoring and cross-team collaboration.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with product, infrastructure, and data teams in a fast-paced environment.
• AI-Native Mindset: Strong curiosity and proactive approach to applying AI in engineering. Engage with emerging skills like prompt engineering, LLM integration, agent-based design patterns, and automation frameworks.
