As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the ETF Technology team in EMEA, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for delivering critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas in support of the firm’s growing UCITS ETF business, which has close to £5 billion in assets under management.
This is a highly visible opportunity to work at the intersection of technology and investment management, supporting one of the leaders in the Active ETF space. You will partner with stakeholders across platform technology, product strategy, portfolio management, and middle office teams, gaining exposure to the full ETF operating model while delivering resilient, scalable, and business-critical solutions.
Job ResponsibilitiesExecutes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions and break down complex technical problems.
Develops secure, high-quality production code using Java, Oracle, and SQL, and reviews, debugs, enhances, and supports code written by others.
Partners closely with business and technology stakeholders across ETF product strategy, portfolio management, platform teams, and middle office to deliver solutions aligned to business objectives.
Identifies opportunities to improve operational stability through proactive monitoring, production support, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and automation of recurring issues.
Drives adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices within the team to improve code quality, delivery speed, testing, troubleshooting, and operational outcomes, while ensuring validation, secure coding, peer review, and compliance with firmwide standards.
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience, with strong hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability in an enterprise environment.
Advanced hands-on experience in Java, with strong experience in Oracle databases, SQL, data design concepts, and scalable application development.
Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle, including agile delivery, CI/CD, application resiliency, secure coding practices, testing, and production support.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated, proactive, adaptable, and keen to learn ETF, finance, and investment management concepts while demonstrating strong ownership of delivery and application stability.
Experience with React or modern front-end development frameworks.
Prior exposure to ETFs, asset management, portfolio management, middle office processes, or broader financial services technology.
Familiarity with enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including validation of AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
Experience working in globally distributed technology teams and partnering across regions, functions, and stakeholder groups.
Interest in building business knowledge within a growing UCITS ETF platform and contributing to technology that supports one of the leaders in the Active ETF market.
