This opening is for a USA based employee, and must sit onsite in our offices in New York, NY, Seattle, WA, or Los Angeles, CA.
As a Lead Software Engineer you will focus on building experiences for our core streaming products, pushing the boundaries of what is possible on the client. You'll work with a team of other developers alongside systems engineers, service engineers, and project managers. Our team uses modern server-side and web technologies such as JavaScript, Node and React to deliver scalable and elegant solutions for new product features and core site architecture.
Responsibilities:
- Architect and develop core site functionality using Javascript (ES6+) HTML and CSS
- Work on a modern stack including React, TypeScript, NodeJS, and Amazon Web Services
- Prototype new features and research applicable technologies
- Implement best practices to continually increase performance and scalability
- Review code and pull requests to ensure product and design specifications are met
- Work with product and project management to refine specs and timelines
- Partner with other engineering teams to deliver best solutions
- Mentor and provide feedback to junior engineers
- Maintain and support production streaming applications at global scale.
Basic Qualifications:
- Proven mastery of frontend web development technologies and principles
- Comprehensive knowledge of JavaScript, JS frameworks, and server-side templating
- Experience with task automation (Grunt, Gulp, WebPack) and CSS Preprocessors (Less, Sass)
- Demonstrated ability to research and learn new technologies
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Driven and self motivated
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with streaming video, large data applications, and analytics suites
- Knowledge of SEO, accessibility, and web performance metrics
- Experience integrating with REST and/or GraphQL APIs
Education:
- BS Computer Science

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA and in New York City, NY is $156, 292 to $209, 660 per year; the hiring range for this position in Santa Monica/Burbank/Glendale/L.A., California and in Bristol, Connecticut is $149, 240 to $200, 200; and the hiring range for this position in San Francisco, California is $163, 426 to $219, 230 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
