Position Overview:
Boeing Digital Services org is currently looking for Lead Software Engineer - Java Full Stack to join their team in Bengaluru, KA. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be part of the Boeing Global Services, which develops software applications and products for that create direct value to its customers. We provide re-vamped work environments focused on delivering data-driven solutions at a rapidly increased pace over traditional development.

Position Responsibilities:

• Lead full stack, full lifecycle software development for Data Delivery applications within the Boeing Digital Services team, including design, implementation, testing, documentation, deployment, and maintenance.
• Translate business requirements into technical requirements, designs, development tasks, schedules, and cost/effort estimates.
• Design, develop, review, and deliver high-quality, maintainable code; participate in and lead code reviews and enforce software design principles and standards.
• Ensure software meets industry, customer, safety, quality, and regulatory standards; perform compliance checks and maintain required documentation.
• Maintain and regularly assess software libraries and COTS products for compatibility, security, and performance across the application ecosystem.
• Operate in an Agile environment: participate in planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement while practicing CI/CD principles.
• Participate in operational responsibilities including on-call rotations; quickly debug, triage, and resolve production issues to maintain system reliability and performance.
• Demonstrate software functionality and present design reviews to stakeholders and end users
• Establish, monitor, and continuously improve software processes, tools, and key performance metrics that align with organizational goals and industry benchmarks.
• Execute and document software research and development efforts to evaluate new technologies, patterns, and approaches.
• Provide technical leadership for project management activities: develop schedules, project plans, estimates, and manage project risk and progress reviews.
• Support and lead root cause analysis for software issues; identify opportunities and implement process and product improvements.
• Review statements of work and perform estimation reviews to ensure scope, schedule, and risk are understood and managed.
• Define and help implement strategic direction for software application teams, helping to shape long-term technical roadmaps and team practices.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor's Degree is required as a Basic Qualification.
• Candidate should have 12 -16 years' relevant experience.
• Full stack developer who has excellent programming skills in the latest tools & technology frameworks like Java 8+ (Core and Advanced), Spring Boot 3.x, Angular 12, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React JS
• Must have hands-on experience with message brokers; knowledge of either Kafka or RabbitMQ is a mandatory requirement for designing reliable asynchronous workflows, event-driven integrations, and ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
• Experience with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure
• Proficient in writing unit and integration tests using tools like Jest
• Asynchronous Programming: Proficiency in asynchronous programming concepts, including callbacks, promises, and async/await,
• Debugging and Testing: Being able to effectively debug and test JavaScript code using tools like browser developer tools and testing frameworks (e.g., Jest or Mocha)
• Version Control: Familiarity with version control systems like Git is important for collaborating with other developers and managing code changes.
• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills are crucial for a JavaScript developer to be able to analyze and solve complex programming challenges.
• Knowledge of Web APIs: Understanding how to interact with various web APIs, such as fetching data from a server or integrating with third-party services
• Good experience on Database technologies like SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL
• Hands-on experience with Build and Deployment tools and languages. Experience in best practices and Tools around CI/CD.
• Knowledge of integrating with Maven, Gradle and Shell scripting.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Prior experience with Flight Management Systems, Class III EFB applications, or Data Delivery systems
• Familiarity with airplane avionics, network protocols and airplane system integration
• Assists in the facilitation of team meetings
• Delivers informative, well-organized presentations

• Identifies critical issues with ease
• Exhibits confidence and extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when solving business problems
• Pushes creative thinking beyond the boundaries of existing industry practices and client mindset
• Experience with Azure Cloud is highly preferrable

Typical Education & Experience:

• Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 12 to 16 years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master 11 to 15 years') related in computer science, aerospace or other closely related field.
