About the Opportunity:

MarketOnce is hiring a Lead Accountant, Revenue & Billing to support accounting operations across MarketOnce and its companies, eAccountable and ROI Rocket, with primary ownership of customer invoicing and revenue. This senior individual contributor leads accounting for a high-volume, multi-entity billing operation that processes hundreds of invoices each month, including key enterprise clients who expect exceptional accuracy and professionalism.

This is a hands-on role with a broad accounting scope. Most of your time will go to preparing, reviewing and posting invoices, and you will also handle account reconciliations, month-end close entries and reporting. You will apply sound revenue recognition to our agency and research engagements, including pass-through costs, and improve and document a manual, multi-step invoicing workflow that involves several contributors across the business.

Working with minimal supervision, you will partner with senior executives and finance leadership to keep billing accurate, resolve problems at the source and provide reliable revenue data, reconciliations and projections. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded accountant who is comfortable with high transaction volume, precise with details and motivated to make processes better.

What You'll Do:

Invoicing and Revenue Operations (~40%)

  • Own the end-to-end customer invoicing process across multiple entities, preparing, reviewing and posting a high volume of invoices each month
  • Personally manage invoicing for key enterprise clients, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and adherence to client-specific billing requirements
  • Manage the flow of billing data from operational systems into the ERP, including data mapping, validation and review before posting
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, rejected invoices and data errors, addressing root causes to prevent recurring issues

General Accounting and Month-End Close (about 25%)

  • Reconcile bank, credit card, accounts receivable and other balance sheet accounts across thousands of client accounts, resolving variances promptly
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals and deferred revenue entries as part of the month-end close
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and maintain an accurate general ledger across entities
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and partner with internal teams on collections issues

Process Improvement and Documentation (~20%)

  • Assess and redesign the invoicing workflow with team leads to reduce manual work, clarify handoffs and improve data integrity
  • Build and maintain written procedures for invoicing, revenue and related accounting processes
  • Identify control gaps and strengthen internal controls over billing and revenue
  • Prepare revenue projections, forecasts and ad hoc analysis for finance leadership
  • Support external audits and serve as a go-to resource for teammates on billing, revenue and the accounting system

Revenue Accounting (~15%)

  • Apply ASC 606 revenue recognition to retainer, project-based, milestone and performance-based engagements
  • Determine the correct treatment of pass-through costs, including gross-versus-net presentation
  • Review client contracts and statements of work for terms that affect billing and revenue timing
  • Document revenue positions so they are applied consistently and are easy to audit

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant hands-on work in revenue accounting, billing or accounts receivable
  • Demonstrated expertise in ASC 606, including applying it to services, agency or project-based revenue and to pass-through or principal-versus-agent arrangements
  • Experience managing high-volume, multi-entity invoicing with a strong record of accuracy
  • Proven track record of redesigning and documenting accounting processes, reducing manual work and strengthening controls
  • Strong account reconciliation skills across a large volume of accounts
  • Experience preparing revenue projections, forecasts or financial analysis
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including working with large data sets
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership and navigate ambiguity with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills, including explaining accounting concepts to non-finance team leads and gathering information across departments

Preferred experience:

  • CPA certification
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) and Management Reporter
  • Experience moving or mapping data between a project management or operational system and an ERP
  • Revenue accounting experience in a marketing agency, market research, consulting or professional services firm
  • Experience billing enterprise clients with complex invoicing requirements

What We Offer:

  • Competitive base salary: $155,000-$175,000/year
  • Flexible vacation policy – take the time you need to recharge
  • Comprehensive health, vision & dental insurance
  • 401k with company contribution
  • Beautiful downtown Denver office with company-paid commuter benefits (parking or RTD EcoPass)
