Job Description
The role is accountable for devising, in conjunction with the Senior Manager: Technology Resilience, a roadmap that delivers increased stability and resilience to Old Mutual’s IT estate. The Lead Resilience Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the technology policies and standards of the organisation are continuously adhered to. Consequently, the Lead Resilience Engineer will act as a subject matter expert in IT methodologies, policies and standards relating to: End-to-end Monitoring, Disaster Recovery, Backups, High Availability, Unsupported Systems, Vulnerability Management, Capacity Management, Strategic Fit, Architecture Documentation and Single Point of Failures.The Lead Resilience Engineer will work collaboratively with the technology and business teams in assessing the current state of the IT control environment and charting a way forward towards achieving 100% stability and resilience of IT services. This role also provides ongoing guidance/supervision to the Resilience Engineer as a mentor/coach.
- Ensures compliance to IT requirements through proper communication, regular practice check and continuous improvements of process/controls/standards in place
- Act as Subject Matter Expert in IT methodologies, policies and standards relating to End-to-end Monitoring, Disaster Recovery, Backups, High Availability, Unsupported Systems, Vulnerability Management, Capacity Management, Strategic Fit, Architecture Documentation and Single Point of Failures. He/she will be the steward of IT these artifacts. New and existing services must align w/ the documented processes and standards
- Coordinates with internal stakeholders on technology compliance. Represents IT from, but not limited to, Information Security, recovery and technology risk perspective. Ensures proper analysis and timely findings/responses/mitigation in a consistent and factual manner; establish & follow the escalation or reporting process.
- Drives the IT organizations’ performance and proper management of IT initiatives/services through use of tools, facts/data, reports, dashboards, etc.
- Ensures IT service compliance and resilience through regular monitoring, analysis, investigation and proposing technical recommendation for the strengthening and protection of business technological assets, data, etc
- Preparing and presenting progress reports including Executive Management level presentations for issues related the current state of the IT risk and control environment
- Analyses IT processes to determine problems, risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Contributes to strategies and guidelines to improve the IT environment.
- Coach and train IT personnel to ensure understanding of the objectives and goals of the department, awareness of set targets/requirements, as well as identify developmental opportunities for team members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED FOR THE JOB)
- A Bachelor degree holder in Information Technology or any business technology related field
- Evolved from being a technical IT person to driving IT governance in the organization.
- Familiar with ICT Business e.g., Consulting, Managed Services, Cloud Services, etc
- Exposed in facets of IT e.g., Projects, Delivery Support, Infrastructure, SW Development, etc.
- At least 5 years relevant experience in Industry standards for IT Governance and controls frameworks e.g., COBIT, ITIL/ITSM, Project and Software Development, ISO, InfoSec/Data Privacy, among others
- Must have developed and deployed an integrated IT frameworks/methodologies, policies, processes, procedures and templates
- Must have introduced efficiency &/or deployed IT tools to operations and projects
- Must have performed an IT audit or familiar with Information Security, Data Privacy, Information Systems Audit requirements and other IT risk management or due diligence practices
- Self-confidence and the ability to manage conflict
- Communications skills at all levels (written, spoken, presentation, etc.)
