Lead – Research & Thought Leadership

Location: Bangalore, India
Reports to: Director, Organic & Content (Pod Lead)

The role
You lead GoComet's data, research, and thought leadership engine, aimed at the people who run global supply chains: VP Supply Chain, VP Logistics, Head of Global Supply Chain, and Head of Global Logistics at Fortune 500 companies. You own what GoComet believes about how supply chain, logistics, and global trade work, and you prove it with data no one else has. You set the questions worth answering, mine our platform data, layer in external and internal signals, and turn all of it into flagship, journalistic-grade pieces, original research, frameworks, and free tools that the industry and the rest of our content organize around. You are the source of the opinions; other people distribute and rank them.

What you own

The point of view. You define the positions GoComet is willing to stake across supply chain, logistics, and global trade, and the frameworks and mental models that carry them. These pillar POVs become the spine everything else structures around.

Big-opinion, journalistic-grade pieces. You produce research-backed, argument-driven work a VP of Supply Chain would actually stop and read: next-level in rigor, narrative, and craft, closer to a serious newsroom or a top research desk than to a marketing blog.

Original research. You run GoComet's proprietary research program: frame the questions, design defensible methodology, query our platform data (shipping, rates, transit times, procurement benchmarks, trade flows), and produce flagship reports that earn citations, links, and analyst attention.

Free tools and referenced assets. Where a calculator, index, benchmark, or tracker would carry a point better than an article, you build it in collaboration with the product team, so GoComet's data becomes something people return to and cite.

Research-anchored. Every piece is built on evidence. You triangulate three sources for each: external market and trade data, internal signals (sales calls, win/loss, product, customers), and GoComet proprietary data layered on top as the differentiator. Nothing ships on opinion alone.

Interpretation, not just data. You go past descriptive statistics to say what a pattern means for a VP of Supply Chain or Logistics, where the contrarian read is, and what it implies for global trade.

Feeding the wider engine. Your POVs, frameworks, research, and tools flow into our SEO and content programs and shape their strategy. You contribute heavily to that strategy; you do not spearhead the ranking program. You make the raw material authoritative enough that everything built on it inherits the authority.

What success looks like
  • The people who run global supply chains at Fortune 500 companies know GoComet, read its work, and repeat its positions.
  • GoComet is recognized across supply chain, logistics, and global trade for original data and sharp, defensible points of view, cited by analysts and trade press, and built on concrete data covering freight visibility, shipment tracking, rates, transit reliability, procurement, and trade flows.
  • A small set of pillar POVs, flagship reports, and tools anchors a much larger library, and each research drop seeds citable data points across many downstream pieces for 12 to 18 months.
  • GoComet's point of view is clear and consistent enough that the market can repeat what it stands for.
Requirements

● 5+ years in journalism, data journalism, analyst work, or a research-heavy editorial role. A newsroom, business-magazine, or data-desk background is exactly what we are looking for. Supply chain, logistics, finance, or B2B/SaaS a strong plus. ● A portfolio of published work you are proud of: bylines, investigations, data stories, or research reports that made a senior or expert audience think differently. ● You can report: develop sources, run interviews, and pull a story out of a messy dataset without a data-science team behind you. ● Strong quantitative reasoning. You can frame a research question, understand the limits of your data, and find the non-obvious insight in it. ● Excellent narrative and writing. You turn a complex data pattern into a compelling argument for a senior executive audience, in a distinct voice. ● Editorial conviction. You form and defend a point of view, and you would rather hold a story than publish a weak one. ● Comfort directing AI tools for querying, drafting, and visualization, and the judgement to override them. ● On-page SEO and LLM-extractability are useful context, not your craft. You care that the work gets found; you do not run the ranking program.

Skills Required

  • 5+ years of experience in journalism, data journalism, analyst work, or research-heavy editorial roles
  • Portfolio of published work, including bylines, investigations, data stories, or research reports
  • Ability to develop sources, conduct interviews, and extract stories from complex datasets independently
  • Strong quantitative reasoning and ability to frame research questions and assess data limitations
  • Excellent narrative writing and ability to communicate complex data to senior executive audiences
  • Ability to form and defend strong editorial points of view
  • Comfort directing AI tools for querying, drafting, and visualization
  • Supply chain, logistics, finance, or B2B/SaaS experience
  • On-page SEO and LLM extractability knowledge
