Key Responsibilities:
Product Strategy & Design Vision
Define and own the design vision and product strategy for our payment products, balancing business goals, user needs, and compliance requirements.
Build and prioritize a roadmap of design and product improvements, using structured frameworks (e.g., RICE, ICE) to weigh impact against effort.
Establish UX/UI design best practices and design-quality standards across the org.
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product designers and UX researchers.
Product Management for Design
Act as a de facto product manager for your area: translate research and data into structured feature proposals, PRDs, or specs that engineering and stakeholders can act on.
Proactively identify, pitch, and champion new features and improvements based on your own use of the app, competitive analysis, and user feedback. This role is expected to originate ideas, not just execute assigned tasks.
Define success metrics and KPIs for design and product initiatives (e.g., activation, feature adoption, NPS, task completion, retention) and report on outcomes.
Run experiments (A/B tests, usability benchmarks) to validate design and product decisions, using analytics tools (e.g., Amplitude, Mixpanel, GA).
Own the backlog and prioritization conversations jointly with product management and engineering leads.
User-Centered Design Execution
Drive end-to-end product design from discovery, journey mapping, and prototyping to detailed UI specifications.
Conduct and apply user research, usability testing, and data-driven insights to improve product flows and reduce friction.
Create and maintain design systems and patterns for consistency across channels (app, web).
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with product managers and engineers to define product requirements and technical feasibility.
Work closely with risk, compliance, and legal teams to ensure designs adhere to regulatory standards (e.g., BSP, AML, KYC).
Collaborate with marketing and CX to ensure brand-consistent experiences.
Innovation & Market Trends
Stay ahead of payment UX trends in PH, SEA, and globally (e.g., tap-to-pay, open finance, e-wallet interoperability).
Explore opportunities to integrate emerging technologies such as QR Ph, NFC, merchant payment solutions, and blockchain into the payment journey.
Regularly use the Coins app as a customer would, and bring a running list of observations and improvement ideas to the team.
What We Expect From You
Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in product design or a hybrid product design/product management role, with at least 2 years in a leadership or people-management capacity.
Demonstrated experience owning a product roadmap end-to-end prioritization, spec writing, success metrics, and post-launch measurement, not only visual/UX design execution.
Proven track record designing scalable payment systems, e-wallets, or financial services platforms.
Strong portfolio demonstrating UX strategy, UI execution, and measurable impact on business or product metrics.
Deep understanding of the Philippine digital payment landscape and regulatory framework.
Experience working in agile product development environments, including backlog grooming and sprint planning.
Proficiency in design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, or similar) and familiarity with product analytics tools (Amplitude, Mixpanel, Google Analytics, or similar).
Background in payments or fintech, and experience designing for mass-market, mobile-first audiences in emerging markets.
A track record of proactively identifying and championing product improvements or new features, ideally backed by concrete examples.
Personal, regular use of the Coins app (or similar e-wallet/fintech apps) preferred — we want someone who thinks like a power user.
High attention to detail, strong written communication (for specs/PRDs), and a collaborative, low-ego approach to working with cross-functional partners.
Ability to coordinate with international partners and stakeholders across time zones.
