POSITION TITLE: Lead Operations Coordinator

The Lead Operations Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the Project Operations team by ensuring smooth daily operations, managing administrative tasks, and coordinating cross-functional teams. This role requires strategic decision-making and the ability to step into leadership positions when necessary, including acting as the Operations Supervisor during absences. The Lead Operations Coordinator will lead, train, and mentor a team, ensuring the successful completion of all operational functions to support the program's life cycle. This position demands an individual with strong leadership skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a high degree of operational and administrative competence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for operations management in the absence of the Operations Supervisor, ensuring continuity of leadership and decision-making.
  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the department, coordinating closely with the Operations Supervisor and Project Operations Manager to align departmental goals with overall project objectives.
  • Lead a team of operations coordinators, providing mentorship, conducting performance evaluations, and developing training plans to ensure team members meet project standards and goals.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all reports, including incident/accident reports, daily operational updates, and CDRLs.
  • Continuously reevaluate and improve reporting processes by implementing best practices and lessons learned, ensuring they are communicated to the entire team.
  • Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders (including Iraqi and U.S. personnel) to support complex, high-priority operational tasks, such as Crisis Management Actions (CMAT), Non-Combatant Evacuation Coordination (NEO), and base-wide notifications.
  • Handle critical logistical support functions, including MEDEVAC operations, subcontractor and client security coordination, and base infrastructure support.
  • Assist in developing strategic plans for operational improvements and efficiencies, providing feedback to senior leadership on areas of potential enhancement.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality while handling sensitive information, including proprietary and client-related materials.
  • Provide project management support for specialized departments, such as Train/Transition, Erbil Operations, LNOs, and Escorts, bridging cultural gaps between Iraqi and Western personnel to ensure smooth collaboration.
  • Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and contract requirements.

DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field is required. Four years of Operations Center experience, combined with a high school diploma, may be considered on a case-by-case basis instead of a bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of eight years of experience in Department of Defense (DoD) tactical operations management and/or civilian operations management with at least six years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven experience in high-pressure environments, with the ability to multitask and handle emergent situations calmly and effectively.
  • Leadership experience is crucial, including team management, mentorship, and the ability to step into more senior roles as needed.
  • Strong project management skills, including coordinating across departments and managing complex, multi-faceted projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface professionally with personnel at all levels, including senior leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other project management software.
  • Experience working in austere, hazardous, and extremely hot environments is highly preferred.
  • Experience with foreign military sales (FMS), the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program (LOGCAP), or military management is highly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in austere, hazardous, or overseas environments is highly preferred.
  • FMS/LOGCAP/AFCAP or military management experience is desirable.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a remote and sometimes austere environment, with exposure to potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Long hours and high-stress situations are common. Candidates must be prepared for rapid relocation under adverse conditions.
  • The ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of dynamic issues with professionalism is critical.
