Lead Investigator and Guide - Farrar Immersive Paranormal Tours

Hi there, we are Sam and Colby! We’re primarily known for our ghost hunting videos on YouTube, with an incredible community of supporters. Our main channel has over 12M subscribers and 1.7 billion views.

We also operate Farrar Elementary, located just outside of Des Moines. Farrar is not a ghost tour. It is a real paranormal investigation experience.

We offer immersive, small group investigations inside one of the most active haunted locations in the country. Guests do not simply observe. They become part of the investigation. Led by experienced investigators, they explore dark classrooms, use professional paranormal equipment, and experience the unknown firsthand.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a Lead Investigator to guide and elevate the paranormal experience at Farrar Elementary. This role goes beyond hosting tours. You will lead investigations, create unforgettable guest experiences, educate participants on investigative methods, and help maintain the authenticity and integrity of the paranormal work happening inside the building.

If you have experience in paranormal investigation, immersive entertainment, guest engagement, or leading unique hands-on experiences, this role is built for you.

**IMPORTANT: Our primary operating hours are Thursday through Sunday, 6:00PM - 2:00 AM. This is a part-time role, and we’ll work with your availability to assign you shifts that fit your schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead small group paranormal investigations throughout Farrar Elementary

• Create immersive, respectful, and unforgettable guest experiences rooted in authentic investigation

• Educate guests on paranormal methods, spirit communication, and investigative equipment

• Guide sessions using tools such as EMF meters, REM pods, Estes Method, spirit boxes, trigger objects, and other investigative techniques

• Read energy in the environment and adapt investigations based on activity, guest comfort, and group dynamics

• Maintain a safe, controlled, and professional atmosphere during all investigations

• Help guests feel engaged, included, and comfortable whether they are experienced investigators or first time visitors

• Work alongside the Farrar team to continue evolving the experience in fresh, exciting, and meaningful ways

• Document notable activity, guest experiences, and moments that contribute to Farrar’s growing legacy

• Uphold respectful paranormal practices and encourage intentional, responsible communication during investigations

QUALIFICATIONS

• Genuine passion for the paranormal and spirit communication

• Experience leading paranormal investigations, immersive events, or interactive guest experiences

• Strong public speaking and group leadership skills

• Comfortable guiding groups through intense or emotionally charged paranormal moments

• Knowledge of investigative equipment and methods

• Ability to think quickly, adapt naturally, and lead with confidence

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Calm, grounded, and professional presence in high energy environments

• Creative mindset for developing unique guest experiences

• Deep respect for location history, spiritual energy, and responsible investigation practices
