A role with the Pricing & Promotion Center of Excellence (COE) means you’re on a mission with merchants to develop enterprise-wide pricing and promotion strategies. Your work will impact millions of dollars in the form of everyday retail prices, promotional strategy and effectiveness, clearance management and competitive pricing. Here, you’ll be a key business consultant to merchants and develop relationships with buyers, senior buyers and leaders. Your strong partnership with Marketing will bring offers to life for guests, and you’ll also work closely with Store Operations, Finance and other key support areas.
As a Lead Pricing Analyst on the PPCOE Pricing team, you will independently lead complex analytical work that shapes Target’s pricing strategy and competitiveness. You’ll serve as a trusted expert, connecting business partners with high-quality data, defining new metrics, and delivering insights that drive key pricing decisions. This role is designed for a highly skilled, self-directed analyst who brings both strategic thinking and hands-on technical ability to deliver measurable business impact. You will bring this to life in the following ways:
Lead independent, end-to-end analysis of large, complex data sets to uncover insights that inform pricing strategy, competitiveness, and profitability.
Own the development and evolution of key pricing metrics, dashboards, and analytical frameworks to monitor performance and guide decisions across categories and channels.
Drive strategic pricing initiatives, including elasticity modeling, price band optimization, and competitive intelligence, ensuring analytical rigor and business relevance.
Partner cross-functionally with product, data, and merchandising teams to identify opportunities, design analytical approaches, and influence strategic outcomes through data.
Develop and communicate actionable recommendations that balance business priorities, guest perception, and financial performance.
Mentor and guide other analysts, sharing best practices and promoting a culture of analytical excellence and data stewardship.
Champion continuous improvement, proactively identifying new data sources, technologies, and analytical methods to strengthen Target’s pricing capabilities.
Operate with autonomy, managing priorities, timelines, and stakeholder relationships while maintaining high standards of accuracy and accountability.
Stay current on emerging analytics tools and industry trends through formal training, peer learning, and self-directed education.

About You:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience); advanced degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in data analysis, pricing analytics, or business analytics, with a proven record of independently leading complex analytical initiatives.
Expertise in SQL and at least one programming language (Python preferred).
Strong knowledge of data storage and querying platforms such as Hadoop, Postgres, or Oracle.
This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
