We are seeking a Lead Engineer who will design, implement, and maintain the AS/400 (IBM i) infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
This role partners with other internal IT functions, Business Units, and MSPs to optimize platform availability, performance and assumes role of IBMi Technical SME for McKesson.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement AS/400 (IBM i) system architecture, infrastructure, and solutions.
- Develop and maintain system configurations, upgrades, and patches.
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Collaborate with development teams on application design, integration, and deployment.
- Develop and enforce security policies, access controls, and compliance.
- Optimize system performance, storage, and resource utilization.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting.
- Develop and maintain documentation and standards.
- Stay current with IBM i technology advancements and industry trends.
Critical Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience with AS/400 (IBM i) architecture, design, and implementation.
- In-depth knowledge of IBM i operating system, hardware, and software.
- Experience with CL IBM i programming languages.
- Familiarity with database design and management (DB2/400).
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP)
- Experience with system security, auditing, and compliance.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with cloud integration (e.g., IBM Cloud, AWS).
- Ansible
- Familiarity with agile methodologies.
- Experience with data analytics and business intelligence.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
