Lead Engineer, Full Stack Assurance (Remote)
The Meraki Assurance team is building a next-generation, cloud-based analytics platform to enable customers to deeply understand their networks. Enterprise networks are notoriously difficult to debug. We leverage telemetry from tens of millions of devices in the field to give customers intuitive insights about their wireless, switching, and SD-WAN deployments in order to troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues in real time.
This growing team of full-stack, firmware, and machine learning engineers provides a unique opportunity to build impactful solutions surrounded by people with a broad technical skill set. As a lead engineer, you will have the opportunity to design creative solutions to tackle data at scale, mentor other engineers on the team, and work closely with cross-functional partners in product, UX, and data science.
What you will do
- Develop tools for customers to configure and monitor networking devices all over the world.
- Architect systems that anticipate the impact of network configuration changes.
- Build and maintain a backend that extracts real-time insights about customer networks.
- Identify and solve performance bottlenecks to ensure a seamless user experience and robust uptime.
- Prioritize systems observability through metrics, monitoring, and alerting.
You are an ideal candidate if you
- Have 7+ years of production experience with one of these or similar languages: Ruby/Python/Scala/Java/Go.
- Have strong knowledge of relational databases: Postgres/MySQL.
- Have experience working on web applications at scale.
- Have experience with cloud providers: AWS or equivalent.
- Have experience with Docker
- Take a focused, organized approach to development, testing, and monitoring.
- Would be excited to join a people-focused team, and look forward to contributing time to help your teammates.
- Would thrive in a small engineering team and are excited to solve open-ended problems across the stack.
- Understand that privacy is inherently valuable for everyone, and work to make sure our system is transparent in its operation and secure with its data.
Bonus points for:
- Experience productionalizing machine learning models supporting customer-facing features
- Experience with DevOps
- Personal projects or contributions to open-source projects.
- Have working knowledge of network protocols and/or network architecture

Compensation Range:
$126,500—$241,700 USD

For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%. Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
