Designs Powell standard electrical products from customer specifications, develops drawings and proposals, orders materials, and interfaces with sales, customers, and production. Reviews lower-level engineers’ work, checks wiring diagrams, provides technical guidance, troubleshoots complex application issues, and supports product improvements. Applies electrical design, power systems, relay coordination, short-circuit studies, industry codes, standards, and ISO requirements. May assign tasks, provide feedback, train engineers, and contribute to industry standards and professional development.

Job Requirements
* Minimum 8 years of experience in an Engineering role.
* BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology.
* EIT and PE preferred.
* Basic computer skills using Oracle, Word, Excel.
* Ability to order material electronically.
* Advanced drafting/CAD skills.
* Proficient with electrical design and circuitry.
* Able to read and interpret electrical symbols, characters, and drawings.
* Able to apply (told by others what it means and which code) NEC, ANSI, and Other as it applies to the day to day activity.
* Knowledge of ISO requirements for a specific department and its interface with other departments.
* Basic to thorough understanding of power system application, relay application and coordination, and short circuit studies.
* Current knowledge of all industry codes and standards associated with his/her department and familiar with all other codes and standards.
* Basic understanding to very proficient at job reviews (i.e., acquired knowledge of specs that Powell should take exception to and specs that require special attention; able to accurately interpret customer specs, etc.).
* Assist in writing of industry codes and standards.
* Check wiring diagrams completed by others.
* Available to analyze and answer technical questions from lower level engineers.
* Able to understand, interpret and trouble shoot most customers needs and problems.
* Provide technical assistance to sales, engineering and inspection on daily problems.
* Assist with and solve problems of other production engineers on a daily basis.
* Check completed jobs of other engineers.
* Able to apply through product knowledge and technical skills to quickly solve complex application problems independently. May require consultation on most difficult.
* Innovative to improve existing products.
* Able to design one product in the most economical way while achieving quality.
* Member of IEEE.
* Assist in the publishing of articles and attend seminars.
* Attend in house and outside training sessions.
* Attend local professional associations.
* Learn policies and procedures, work instruction, ISO policies, Safety Rules and Regulations, and vendor products.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills Required
