About theta.

theta. is an SBA-Certified 8(a) & HUBZone digital integration and management firm based in Baltimore, MD, working to create a world where tech works for everybody. Our mission is to bridge the gap between the intersection of innovation & technology and practical applications that serve the public interest.

We specialize in creating software that enhances efficiency, security, and accessibility in government operations. Our commitment to be of service, be passionate, and be different drives us to deliver projects that make a significant impact.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Lead DevSecOps Engineer to make software delivery repeatable, secure, and deployable across constrained environments. You will own CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, security integration, and “release readiness evidence” so delivery teams can ship reliably while meeting governance and security expectations.

This role is ideal for someone who can build strong pipeline patterns and operate with an operational mindset, improving deployability, observability, and day-to-day reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for build, test, packaging, and release evidence.
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code and environment configuration automation.
  • Integrate security scanning and compliance evidence generation into delivery workflows.
  • Improve observability (logs, metrics, dashboards, alerting patterns) and operational readiness checks.
  • Support release readiness discipline, change-control alignment, and incident response processes.
  • Coordinate with security stakeholders as needed and support remediation/POA&M tracking.
  • Improve deployability across environments (config alignment, packaging, infrastructure readiness).

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of DevOps/DevSecOps or Site Reliability experience supporting production systems.
  • Strong CI/CD automation and infrastructure-as-code experience.
  • Experience integrating security checks and producing audit/evidence artifacts.
  • Monitoring/telemetry experience and familiarity with incident response.
  • Comfortable operating under access/change constraints.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and an operational mindset.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to meet any other requirements for government contracts for which they are hired (e.g., must reside in the U.S., Security Clearances).
  • Some of our clients may request or require travel from time to time. If this concerns you, we encourage you to apply and discuss it during your initial interview.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting federal or defense software programs.
  • Familiarity with RMF/ATO “friction” and security-constrained delivery environments.
  • AWS and/or Azure experience; containerization and orchestration patterns.
  • Experience with log analytics/dashboarding (e.g., CloudWatch/Splunk).

Why Join theta.?:

  • Work on mission-driven modernization efforts serving the public interest
  • Build delivery systems that improve reliability, security, and deployability, not just pipelines
  • Collaborate with engineers, product, delivery, and security partners to ship real outcomes
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits

If you are a driven, results-oriented DevSecOps or Site Reliability Engineer who wants your work to directly improve the security and reliability of software delivered in complex federal environments, we encourage you to apply. If you enjoy building automation that makes teams faster without sacrificing security, and you know operational readiness is as important as deployment, we invite you to join our team at theta.

Salary Range: $165,000 - $180,000 (DOE and project-specific details)
