Be part of the Next Industrial Revolution - Behind every SaaS Product is a Team
In Vimachem, we’re using technology to empower the people who manufacture medicines for our world. Since 2014, we have been developing the Vimachem Pharma Manufacturing Execution System (MES) leveraging the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Cloud computing, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Currently deployed in over 200 pharmaceutical sites globally, the Vimachem Pharma MES is enabling a healthier world by supporting pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical manufacturers in bringing to market faster, affordable, and life-saving medications.
We are experiencing one of the most exciting growth phases in our company’s history and are now bringing our DevOps & Infrastructure function fully in-house. We’re looking for an experienced and ambitious Lead DevOps & Infrastructure Engineer to take over from our current external DevOps partner and, together with a junior engineer, build and lead the internal DevOps & Infrastructure team. In this role, you will own the infrastructure roadmap, budget, technology decisions and remain deeply hands-on, shaping how we scale our cloud environment, CI/CD pipelines, and automation practices to support our rapidly growing platform.
Our culture is fast paced, entrepreneurial, and rewarding. We've been recognized as a "Great Place to Work" for multiple consecutive years by fostering an inclusive and mission-driven culture. If you are passionate about cutting-edge technologies and automations, the future is bright for you at Vimachem, and we want to hear from you!
Impact of the Role
As a Lead DevOps & Infrastructure Engineer, you won’t just maintain systems - you’ll architect and evolve Vimachem’s global infrastructure, guiding our DevOps strategy and define standards for automation, security, and scalability while remaining technically hands-on. This is a hybrid role combining technical leadership and hands-on engineering, ideal for professionals who thrive in fast-moving, collaborative environments and want to shape the foundation of a globally deployed SaaS product.
What will you do as a Lead DevOps & Infrastructure Engineer?
- Lead the DevOps & Infrastructure function and oversee technical operations and team development.
- Architect, provision, and manage scalable, secure infrastructure in Microsoft Azure using Terraform and Ansible.
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, embedding testing, security, and compliance checks.
- Own Linux-based environments, ensuring performance, reliability, and resilience through configuration, hardening, and automation.
- Champion Infrastructure as Code practices for everything from networks to compute to storage.
- Automate operational workflows across deployment, monitoring, scaling, and recovery.
- Proactively improve observability using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, or similar.
- Collaborate with developers, QA, and product teams to optimize delivery pipelines and streamline environment provisioning.
- Build and maintain internal tooling and scripts (Bash, Python, etc.) to automate repetitive tasks and manual interventions.
- Enforce secure defaults and operational guardrails with policy-as-code and secrets management (e.g., Azure Key Vault, Vault).
- Contribute to strategic infrastructure planning — balancing innovation, reliability, and cost optimization.
What you bring to the table:
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps or SRE roles, primarily in cloud-native and automated environments.
- Proven ability to lead projects, take initiatives, mentor peers, and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure and managing its core services (Compute, Networking, Storage, Identity, etc.).
- Strong command of Terraform, Ansible, and general configuration management & orchestration principles.
- Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
- Solid Linux skills—scripting, process debugging, performance tuning, hardening.
- Fluent in Bash, Python, or PowerShell for automation and tooling.
- Strong understanding of networking (VNETs, DNS, load balancers, VPNs, NSGs).
- Experience managing containerized applications and orchestrating deployments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, compliance automation (CIS benchmarks, audit readiness), and secrets management.
- Experience implementing monitoring and alerting systems for proactive operations.
Bonus points
- Prior leadership experience (1–2 direct reports or mentoring) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience with Keycloak, OAuth2, or integrating secure authentication/authorization into infrastructure.
- Exposure to ISO 27001, SOC 2, or regulated industry environments.
At Vimachem, we know that even exceptional candidates sometimes hesitate to apply. If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every single requirement, we encourage you to apply — we’d love to explore your potential fit.
