ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Lead DevOps Engineer, you will combine hands-on technical leadership with people management responsibilities. You will architect, build, and evolve scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure while leading a regional DevOps team.

This role requires strong technical expertise in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and reliability engineering, alongside the ability to mentor engineers, manage performance, align with cross-functional stakeholders, and contribute to the company’s long-term technology strategy.

You will play a key role in ensuring operational excellence while growing a high-performing DevOps team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Technical Leadership & Architecture:

• Architect, design, and evolve scalable cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS.
• Lead the management and operation of Kubernetes clusters in multi-environment and multi-region setups.
• Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines supporting microservices, mobile apps, backend systems, and game clients.
• Define engineering standards for infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or equivalent), automation, and deployment strategies.
• Collaborate with Architects and Engineering teams to influence system design and ensure operational best practices.
• Drive reliability engineering practices, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
• Troubleshoot complex production incidents and lead root cause analysis.
• Continuously improve observability, monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
• Identify cost optimization opportunities across cloud environments and drive efficiency initiatives.

2. Operations & Reliability:

• Ensure production and non-production systems are stable, secure, and highly available.
• Lead and organize support for critical systems, enabling rapid incident response.
• Participate in and oversee on-call processes and incident management.
• Establish operational KPIs, SLAs, and SLOs.
• Promote SRE principles and proactive reliability improvements.

3. Security, Compliance & Best Practices:

• Integrate security and DevSecOps best practices into infrastructure and pipeline designs, ensuring compliance with organizational and industry standards.
• Collaborate with security and compliance teams to implement governance, automated controls, and secure‑by‑design principles.

4. People Management & Team Leadership:

• Manage the day-to-day activities and priorities of the regional DevOps team.
• Mentor and coach team members, supporting their professional and technical growth.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide continuous feedback.
• Drive hiring efforts, including candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and engineering excellence.
• Ensure knowledge sharing, documentation, and cross-training within the team.

5. Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

• Evaluate and introduce emerging technologies, frameworks, and tooling to improve productivity, reliability, and automation maturity.
• Lead Engineering-wide initiatives to uplift DevOps capabilities, streamline processes, and eliminate technical debt.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have:

• 6+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience leading Engineers.
• Strong expertise in Kubernetes and containerized workloads.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or similar).
• Solid experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions).
• Production experience with Azure and/or AWS (both preferred).
• Strong Linux systems knowledge; familiarity with Windows servers is a plus.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, App Insights, New Relic).
• Strong troubleshooting skills across distributed systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally and cross-regionally.
• Ability to balance hands-on technical contribution with leadership responsibilities.

Nice to have:

• Experience with multi-cluster or multi-region Kubernetes architectures.
• Background in SRE practices, reliability modeling, or chaos engineering.
• Experience leading cloud cost-optimization initiatives.
• Strong scripting or programming skills (Bash, Python, Go, PowerShell, etc.).
• Experience with game development tooling, Unity pipelines, or mobile CI/CD.
• Familiarity with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
