The Role

The Lead Design Engineer will actively lead the design and development phase of new rotating equipment such as Centrifugal and Axial Compressors, Turboexpanders, Reciprocating Compressors, Innovative Rotating Equipment with a special focus on the industrialization design phase.
In a multidisciplinary and stimulating environment you will cover the mechanical design & configuration of compressors & radial expanders, adapt the products to evolving market of energy transition and succeed in their final definition. 
The main development areas will be related to Gas Technology, Hydrogen Compression, Energy Storage, Waste Heat Recovery Systems, CCUS (Carbon Capture Use and Storage).

As a Compressors & Radial Expanders Industrialization and Digital Development Lead Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Lead and execute the design, validation and industrialization phase of new products & solutions.

  • Execute calculations, mechanical analysis, cost analysis and drawings in order to technically define the machine.

  • Develop ideas providing relevant effort in structuring conceptual roadmaps to target the goals.

  • Lead the definition of new design tools and validation of new concepts and products.

  • Generate detailed technical reports and documentation of the design and testing phases.

  • Bring the design and the maturity of the product/component towards an industrialization phase in order to have a smooth transition into the commercial and production environment.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have an open mindset ready to learn and apply new concepts.

  • Have a Master Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering or Equivalent.

  • Knowledge of mechanical configuration & drawings of machines and related production/assembly/testing phase.

  • Knowledge of typical structural analyses involved into the design of a machine.

  • Demonstrate good computer skills and be familiar with CAD & FEA techniques.

  • Understand basic mechanical behaviors of materials and basic thermodynamics principles.

  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.

  • Experience in turbomachinery field and digital development are a plus.

  • Have good verbal and written skills, be fluent in English.
