At Mashgin, we build technology that changes how people experience everyday moments and our Support and Deployment team is at the center of bringing that to life. As we grow, we're looking for a Lead Deployment Engineer who wants to be in the thick of it: whether that's in the field launching a new location or supporting a remote technician working through a complex issue from across the country.
This is a blended leadership role. You'll oversee a mixed team of field deployment engineers and remote technical support specialists and you'll need to be credible on both sides. Your first 90 days are built for immersion: taking tickets, doing deployments, and getting to know the people and the operation from the inside. That foundation is what makes everything that follows the mentorship, the process work, the cross-functional relationships actually stick.
If you're energized by solving real problems, helping people grow, and being part of a team that's evolving as fast as the company around it, this is the opportunity for you.
What We Value:
- Impact: You will own significant responsibility and have total ownership over your work. We stay lean and efficient, so your work directly impacts the product we ship every day.
- Simplicity: Complexity is a waste of time here—we take pride in building things that just work.
- Hard Work: Forget the glamorous research papers. We prioritize the hard work it takes to achieve real-world clarity and accuracy. You will innovate relentlessly to push the boundaries of what’s possible in visual automation.
- Humility: No task is beneath you. Whether it's high-level architecture or grunt work to fix a bug, we check our egos at the door and get real work done.
- Ruthless Prioritization: If everything is on fire, nothing is. You will be expected to prioritize ruthlessly, cutting through distractions to focus on the most impactful product improvements.
- Customer Innovation: We are customer-centric, not customer-pleasing. You won’t bend to every client demand; you will let innovation drive the product forward to solve the real problems our users face.
- Efficiency: Meetings suck. We keep them short and only use them for alignment, giving you your time back to focus on real work.
What You'll Do
- Mentor and develop team members at all levels, providing coaching, honest feedback, and the kind of direct conversations that help people grow professionally and technically.
- Become the go-to expert on Mashgin's hardware, software, and deployment systems, a reliable resource for the team, customers, and internal partners alike.
- Own and improve standard operating procedures, identifying what's working, what isn't, and what needs to be built from scratch.
- Serve as a clear and reliable conduit between the team and cross-functional partners including Product, Engineering, and vendors, surfacing recurring issues and keeping the right people informed.
- Travel up to 25% of the time to support new location launches and assist customers across the country.
Minimum Qualifications
2–4 years of experience in a lead or management role with at least 6 direct reports, ideally within a technical, field operations, or customer support environment.
You came up through the ranks, you've done the hands-on work and you lead from that experience, not around it.
Demonstrated ability to coach and develop team members, including having direct, constructive conversations with people who are well-liked or resistant to feedback.
Comfortable with up to 25% travel, including occasional last-minute deployments.
Self-starter who makes sound decisions independently and doesn't need constant oversight to stay on track.
Based in or near a major airport in the West Coast or Central time zone — Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Denver, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and the Bay Area are preferred locations.
Preferred Qualifications
Background in building knowledge bases, internal documentation, or training resources.
Familiarity with field deployment operations, vendor coordination, and working with teammates across different time zones and schedules.
Bachelor’s Degree.
